Gun Library Transfers and your experiences

I am just curious as to how many of you use Cabela's gun Library to get firearms you are looking for and what your experiences have been? The reason I ask, I've transferred two firearms to my local Cabelas in the last year. Both guns were said to be in "excellent" condition (Bore, metal, and stock). On both experiences, upon calling the transferring store, I've asked the library associate to give me his opinion on the condition and both associates said the firearms looked to be in excellent condition. The last transfer was for a Benelli Cordoba which, again, was supposed to be in excellent condition. When I opened the case, the barrel had one giant scratch all the way down (you could see bare metal), lots of other surface scratches on the metal, the butt was covered in dirt, the action had visible rust on it, and the stock had deeper scratches all over it. I asked my local Cabelas associate how he would rate the gun and he even said about 80%. Now, I'm sure some of you are saying "there are pictures of every gun" which is true. None of that stuff was visible through the pictures posted. Every transfer costs 25 dollars. I let the first one go but on this Benelli, I did ask for my shipping cost back. After having a Cabelas Manager look at the Benelli, he agreed that the gun certainly wasn't in excellent condition and offered my shipping costs back to me in the form of a gift card.

I love Cabelas. I think they carry great stuff and I frequent their store quite often. However, this practice of marketing their used guns as excellent and finding out that they are not as excellent as what I think excellent should be, has left me twice shy about transferring any more firearms in.

Have you had good luck? Bad luck? Just curious.

IMO, Cabelas used guns are usually way over priced, for the condition they indicate... which like you've seen is a crap shoot.

I would have asked for cash instead of a scam gift card. That's BS, that's false advertising, and they admitted to it.

I've not transferred one in.

I did buy one that happened to be a Browning Citori that they mislabeled. Always nice to get a higher grade for a standard grade price.
I've always been a bit leery about having one transferred in, as the prices are often so high it's not worth it. They seem much more likely to deal on a firearm already in stock.

I find my local Cabelas to be way over priced. I would not buy a gun there and definitely would not sell one.

In most cases I can find a NIB gun I'm interested in online cheaper than Cabela's has it listed for used.
