Grouse! Let’s See Them

On the way home I couldn't resist stopping at a cover that used to be a honey hole but has been on tge decline the last few years as it's aged. Put my young dog on the ground. He hasn't put the pieces all together yet but is getting there. He bumped this one so we walked around the low ground for another try & I bumped it. Couldn't stop myself from shooting. Didn't see it fall but Rip came back with it 🙂

such a disrespect! A grouse in the hand is just as big a moment in my eyes as an elk :)
The hit of protein Mr.Grouse provided was much needed, given the amount of complaining from the husband unit I was hearing about our food supply for days 1-6. Thank you Mr.Grouse!

The real painful grouse encounter was on Day 6 (mileage total 15.6) when I had to hike out to civilization to fix my bow and the fattest/dumbest grouse was meandering up the trail I was hustling up. Since the bow was out of commission all I could do was watch and dream about fat little mountain chicken tendies.
