Football General Talk

Watching tv just now, and FOX aired a commercial for the USFL which starts its "inaugural season" April 2022. Head coaches include Todd Haley and Jeff Fisher, both looking grayer and older than the last time they were seen on a sideline.

"Off season" just shrunk up football junkies.
I’ve never been able to get into watching other leagues. Maybe this one will be different.

No thanks. It's just another garbage football league that will most likely fold up just like the AAF. Teams made up of mostly has beens and wanna bees like Teebo and Johnny Football not worth watching. (n)

Basically, college level, eh?

Nobody wants to watch that. :)

Heard a statement a few weeks back - during the history of the salary cap (since 1994) no team has won the Super Bowl with a QB that made more than 12.5% of the salary cap. How is that possible? Rookie scale QBs that have won, backup QBs that have won, veteran QBs structuring their cap hits to open one or two year windows to win with low cap then but big hit later, Brady getting paid under the table via his nutrition company, etc.

Next years salary cap is $208MM against his upcoming cap hit of $46.6MM - 22.4%. If history holds true the Pack will again join the Vikes as non-super bowl winners this year.

So, in order of QB importance this off season, several things came ahead of where Cousins will play. First Rogers had to land - check. Second, Wilson had to land - check. Third, will Brady try to come out of retirement and play for San Fran this year - tbd. Fourth - will anybody give the Vikes a 1st rounder for Cousins - we are almost at the point where this question will be answered - Brady just needs to make it clear from back channels whether he is sneaking back in.

Had me curious how Rodgers stacks up with leading athlete compensation:

Edit: apparently you must join their service to read their article:

Here is one w/o the subscription requirement:

The Vikings should take that offer in a New York minute. But, no one is going to make that offer.

Maybe Wentz for Cousins straight up. Two mediocre quarterbacks each needing a fresh start.

I have heard that too. Colin cowherd said something to the effect last contract Rogers signed.
