Football General Talk

You think Wilson and his agent read about Rogers' contract and did a little negotiating before he signed that no-trade clause reversal?

The Vikings should take that offer in a New York minute. But, no one is going to make that offer.

Maybe Wentz for Cousins straight up. Two mediocre quarterbacks each needing a fresh start.
My simple strategy:

Fire GM & coach - check
Trade Cousins to anyone who will take him - even if just for a 7th rounder if that is what it takes to get him off the payroll.
Trade every player over the age of 32 that another team will give us a draft pick in rounds 1-4.
Cut every player not named Hunter or O'Neal making over $8MM next year who wasn't otherwise removed in steps one and two.
Give your young stars the year off for "medical reasons" so we don't waste them.
Start Mond at QB for the whole season.
Go 1-16 and draft Young #1 overall.
Build a team around him with the acquired draft picks and freed up cap space to win in the 3rd and 4th years of Young's rookie contract. If you don't get a Super Bowl ring, start over and redo, as I am tired of 9-7 and 16th spot draft picks.

I like the trade for Denver. Drew Lock was never going to work out.

I'm curious if Pete Carrol looks to rebuild long term or if he leaves next. I'd love to see him in the new (professional) college league as all the stuff that got him in trouble is legal now.

If they win a Super Bowl they will be geniuses - if they don't, the two #1s, two #2s, three players and a 5th will join all-in trades of Vikes for Herschel and Ditka for Williams as huge overreaches.

I can't abide tanking, I don't dislike Cousins, and I don't buy into the last to first sort of philosophy. It makes for terrible football, league-wide. And I don't give them much chance of pulling it off either. Who's to say Young isn't another Trevor Lawrence? I don't see Jacksonville moving into the winner's circle, never mind the Superbowl, or even the playoffs, anytime soon.

That said, I don't have any magic formula to right the ship by September.

Any draft QB in the top slot is a 50-50 proposition, that is why it may take a few cycles. As for Trevor, too early to call it a bust until he actually gets a minimally competent NFL coach/staff - last year was a joke in Jacksonville - the most pathetic I can ever remember.

Agree with the above…release a LB that was All-Pro in 8/10 seasons, trade a QB that was All-Pro in 9/10 seasons…keep a coach that can’t seem to figure out if he’s offensive minded, defensive minded, wants a running game, or wants great QB/WR tandems but no OL to allow protection. Sigh……

Remember when everyone wanted to ‘Tank for Tua’? How’s that working out in Miami? What makes you think Young will be better than all the qbs bama has sent to the pros and flopped?

Hunter has played 7/33 games the last 2 years. Why are they paying him so much to stand in street clothes? Same with the highest paid RB in league history. Don’t help much in sweat pants.

You just as well have the Vikings be your pall bearers so they can let you down for the last time.

As a rabid 49er fan I would like to take the time and thank Petey and the seacoks for this very special day.

I wanna slap that gum right out of that pricks mouth.

As the beebs put it, #blessed

Oh I know it made your day and my BIL’s, he’s only sent me about 20 smile emojis today🙄

I just responded to him with: 21 career starts against the 49ers, Wilson went 17-4 while throwing for 4,169 yards and 36 touchdowns. Even last season, with the Seahawks SUCKING, Wilson still beat the 49ers both times he faced them. It “might” have been accompanied by one of these too…

Tua sucked, never understood interest there. Dalvin goes - no reason to pay an RB that much. Danielle is still elite if he can be healthy this year - still young enough to be worth the try. Young looks special regardless of past Alabama qbs - none of whom I was ever impressed with.
