Cant stand all the other topics non hunting related so let's talk bear plans. I am planning a 3 night camp off atv hunt in another state this spring that has me pretty excited to plan. Could care less about actual bear being shot but I love camping in spring if I hit weather just right. Locally almost all we have is grizzlies so will be nice to get out and see some actual black bears maybe cook some trout in the fire. Anyone got plans and ready for the seasons to turn? Here's a Pic from a couple years ago when I did same and was first person to get over snow pack and into this lake in spring.IMG_20220622_210339.jpg

Planning our first spring bear hunt. Getting pretty excited to see the mountains in the spring! Hopefully get some scouting done for a new elk spot in the process! Hopefully have a good story to share after the end of May.

Currently there's several feet of snow in the bear country I hunt. The only planning I've done I request some time off in May.

Can’t wait! Plan to get the baits out early in April with the sled as it’s easier. Then just wait till they wake up. Plan to build a small natural blind as I think the big one I am after is smart to my tree stand. All
Goes well he will be back for spring number 3 of me chasing him

I miss running baits, now I just follow along as you do. You always keep us informed on action and post some great pics! Thanks for all the sharing

Drew a tag close to home, so I’m pretty excited for that. It’ll give me a good reason to check out some places I haven’t gotten in to yet. That said, not really sure what I’m in for.

Question to those w/ more experience, can bears see blaze orange, and does it matter? I’ll be hunting exclusively public land so I’d rather wear it than not.

That looks like a ton of fun

Bears are the Mr Magoo of the woods. You’ll be fine.

Good luck guys.
I haven't bear hunted in several years.
My hunting friends don't have much interest in it anymore.

I’m hoping to be able to hunt ID for the first time this spring. Looking forward to setting baits there and also doing some spot and stalk near home in MT.

Working on building a beaver barrel. No more beavers getting stolen out after a day or two and no more bears shoveling all the bait on the ground to get to the beavers. Hauling 3x 50 gallon barrels in will be a bit of a pain but hopefully worth the effort

I drew a 9% draw odd bear tag. I’ve hunted the unit several times and know where the bears lurk.

Based on my schedule and the need for green grass, I’ll start glassing for bears April 25th. I’ll probably start having good luck around May 9th.IMG_8356.jpeg
