Emancipated

yes, at 16, but for a good reason, not a bad one. A first Nation/Education ( both formal and field ) situation.
 
Mom died when I was 15, stepmother didn't want me around. I had a room (all of 6x8) and a bed. Other than that I did for myself. Worked, played sports and went to school. Dad was absolutely whipped and did nothing. The football team and then my fraternity brothers became my family. Strangely I believe it made me a much better father in the end. I never let my kids go to bed without telling them I love them, I hug them every chance I can and am happy to have made every sacrifice necessary to make their lives safe, comfortable and supported.
 
I left home at 17, with my parents blessing, because I graduated highschool early.

Not an emancipation, but similar results.
Same here,but I'm sure my folks wished would I had gone to Annapolis or Kingspoint...I took the hard route.
