Couple of Montana EHD casualties from last fall.

Still my favorite deadhead to date, July 2020. Thought I'd share. Don't forget to look in the water!!! Perfectly euroed other than the rotten brain matter that got all over me on the pack out, made me hurl.

Then my dog proceeded to eat the face and ivory! I was able to save the skull cap.

Backpack in the Brooks Range. Deadheads were plentiful. Found six rams, two moose, and many caribou. Also saw many alive!

My grandfather picked this guy up around 30 years ago and has been sitting in his garage ever since. When he passed away in January, I inherited it.

It is not good now and we have yet to have a hard freeze. It could get ugly.

Found this one this year while elk hunting. Wish i had a pic of the cougar skull at my dads place. We found the entire skeleton laying in the woods while deer hunting. Tail to nose every bone was there. we grabbed the skull and picked through and found as many teeth as we could. Turned out really nice.

I glassed up this head while looking for mule deer in SW MT this weekend. Nature already did most of the hard work for me. As it lay.

That's got to be one of the coolest things ever. I the Sheep Eater Indians would hang ram skulls in the trees after they killed them. There is a chunk of tree trunk that grew around a ram skull at the Bighorn Sheep center in Dubois.

I'm no expert. I'd probably do something like this and say he died in late winter, right before his 8th birthday.

Cool find with the spine still connected, Neffa! Are you guys allowed to keep them?

The spine and hip on the one I found were nearby, but not still connected. I stupidly ditched the lower jaw bone because it was clacking around and I was still chasing a buck. Dropped a pin and might ask a friend to grab it if goes back.

While we’ve got the experts summoned: is the attached from a sheep hide? I found this leathery patch in the next gulch over.
