Dave N Elk tag fund raiser

@Dave N you want this one😂😂 Good luck on the ID unit 11 mulie tag!

What can I say to a guy that makes bullshit posts so he can ask about the tag he just got? 🤷‍♂️

Today's workout went great now that it cooled off with the rain. Still ended up peeling my shirt off and was dripping with sweat (sorry for the sight picture) but my legs felt good and my breathing was a lot better. Could have gone longer but I'm sticking with one hour for now.

This is a great thing to see, and really shows what a likeminded community can get accomplished. I am happy that it sounds like you will get a shot at an elk, it really sounds like you deserve it.

@Dave N, we may have had disagreements very recently. Having time to cool down now, I reacted poorly. But when someone makes a flippant joke about a woman I care deeply about, I tend to see red. I think a lot of people on here could relate to that. I won't apologize for defending her, a man should stand by what he feels is right, but I will apologize for lashing out at anyone who called me out for my harsh behavior. In the end we are all hunters, and don't know what people are going through in the real world, or the exact way they are intending to be interpreted with what they type on here.

In case anything falls through, or you happen to not see any elk on your hunt, I have my Hunter Host license here in Alberta, and can take two non-resident aliens out per year. I would gladly use one of those spots to help you harvest an elk. I can handle camp, food, and all other peripherals, including a side by side so we could get into the deep stuff without putting stress on your knee. Hunting in Canada is a different experience than in the States, and maybe that would appeal to you or make taking an elk a little more memorable. Also, you can put in for another big game tag, and I happen to know a few spots that hold both elk and bighorns. To me, there is no greater pleasure than going after elk in the mountains here, and from the sounds of it you would be more than deserving to experience that as well. I wish you nothing but success on your upcoming hunt, but just wanted to offer another option if needed if you are still in search of an elk after.

May as well update since the thread popped up again. I was messaged about my workout and they suggested riding the bike amongst other things. I hadn't for a while because it seemed like my knee didn't care for it much. Got it out this afternoon and went for a quick 2 mile ride. 19th gear of 21 and pedaled pretty quickly just about the whole way. It actually wasn't too bad this time. Felt wobbly when I got off but no pain to speak of. Guess I'll add that in now and then, weather permitting. My sled pulling has moved to a daily thing but cut back to half an hour each time. My pace has picked up and I'm going quite a bit farther in my 2 1/2 minutes. If the heat and humidity aren't too bad I may try twice a day now and then. I've lost roughly 7-8 pounds so far without too much dedication. Trying to take it easy with the Tillamook! ;)

Too hot and humid to drag stuff around. Doing bike rides now and just cranked out 4 miles in 20 minutes flat including stopping at the end of the road 3 times to turn around. Time for a Gatorade.
Not nice out there. I'm doing minimal outside projects myself this weekend. Stay cool Dave.

Yep, just got done mowing and I'm going to have a little bit of lunch. Back out to put my accessories on my truck and then I'm staying in the house. Good day to get the floors scrubbed and get some cleaning done!

Exactly gonna organize the basement aka hideout.

Glad to see this is happening and just ran across the thread. Elevation is what’s gonna kill you Dave, I know as I just got back from CO and I usually live at 900 and was between 8000-14000 all week and wow I’m old and fat. ;). Keep up the weight loss and that will be one of the things that really helps out IMO. I know this is a little personal, but maybe put weight updates in the thread as well, not that we don’t trust you…lol, but….haha. Good luck on the hunt and can’t wait for 2025 now !

I'm at MAYBE 700 if I climb up to my rooftop! I took a quick look at where we're going and it looks like 7-8000 for the most part if I'm looking right. My knee and legs are doing pretty good so I've been working some on cardio. Actually just got in from a 10 mile bike ride.

My weight has been stuck for a while and I have to get back on track with it. Maybe I should have skipped making the biscuits and gravy the other day! If you want to know, when I started I was about 212. This morning I was 206. I bounce around a couple pounds around 205 and hang up. I've cut out my diet soda ALMOST entirely and drink lots of Gatorade zero. I have a rabbit food lunch now and then. Not much starch very often and I generally try to eat something fairly healthy. Not sure how long it's been since I had any ice cream. When I lost weight to go to England with @devon deer I snacked on carrots and other gut fillers that don't amount to anything. Time to get back into that. If I can get back down to the 188 I was then, I would be fine with it. Even less would be better, but I won't worry about it. Yet. ;)

It helps having a garden doesn't it.

I had biscuits and gravy for breakfast today before leaving CO ;). Too funny !

Rode another 10 miles today. Timed it at 56.5 minutes. Had a headwind for half of it. I'm going to have to stop that for a while, that torture device they call a seat is killing my ass! Back to dragging the sled for a while. Time to chug a Gatorade and get the yard mowed.

It would be good if you could get out to Wyoming and to elevation a few days early to acclimate properly.

Dave, Dave, Dave, it is a saddle, not a seat. I was corrected on that when I complained to our local bike company about my torture device. I bought a gel sea....err saddle pad and that has helped a lot. Still not super comfy, but definite improvement. I usually do around 10-13 miles per day. Legs feel good. Rear end not so much.
