Done. You guys are used to it but I still say 300 yards is a pretty good poke! I ranged back to my bench and thought it looked pretty small! Oh well. Guess I'll be playing with the big boys now. Stocked up on target ammo to use before I try the handloads. Been plugging numbers into the calculator to see trajectory examples and how to use the CDS dial. With any luck I won't have to use it on the hunt. Once I start shooting I'll see how close the chart is to real life.

Dave, I’m just a couple hours south of you, anything you need, you’re more than welcome to come borrow. Got a 325 wsm that will do 3/4” with 200 grain partitions. Have packs, trekking poles and all the other stuff you might need.

Thanks! So far I'm pretty happy with how my 270 is doing. Seems like I just may have been out of practice shooting at anything besides deer! I'm guessing there will be a spare pack, poles or whatever else I don't have available to borrow from the group that shows up for this shindig! Thanks for the offer!

One thing I would suggest if you haven’t is do a 200 yard zero. Should only be about 1.5” high at 100 but then don’t have to adjust as much.

That's what I'm shooting for, no pun intended! According to the numbers plugged into the ballistics calculator I'm where I want to be. Just have to punish my shoulder to confirm and get actual results for different yardages.

@Wildabeest how are you getting along? Tap dancing yet?
Nerve block wore off on Thursday, ending 6 days of “this ain’t so bad”. It’s still not too bad so long as I’m laying down with it elevated. But as soon as I go vertical and the blood rushes down there, oh boy I say some bad words!

Due to a series of events, I’m on my fourth cast. Be nice to your kids because when they become your caretakers they get to have fun picking out your cast design…

Yikes! I remember my ACL replacement. Norco was my friend for the first few days until I could stand it. The ice machine was going full blast!

They had to do quite a bit of soft tissue repair in addition to replacing the joint, including rebuilding a completely severed ligament using a tendon graft. You can see the screws below where they reattached it to my fibula.

They gave me a 5 day supply of Oxy, but it’ll have to get way worse before I take any of that shit. I’ve spent too much of my professional life dealing with the addiction side of that.

Fortunately, both of my kids share my fondness of food and cooking. My son and his gf are keeping me well fed while I’m staying with them in NC. My daughter takes over the care and feeding for a bit when I am back in UT after the first of the year. I won’t go hungry!

The first couple of days were the worst for me and even with the ice machine running the Norco helped me relax so I could sleep a little. I think I stopped them after 3 days. It's been a while. Maybe that was when I stopped using the crutches. After that it was once in a while when I started therapy and had a hard workout. With your history of the effects I think you would be fine with one on occasion if you need sleep or to help negate the pain once you get moving around. I was having the same attitude but being able to rest or sleep when I was having trouble doing so changed my mind. Good luck.
