Sorry. I know that must suck. I have heard results are up to 10 days out in some areas and tests are in short supply. Some Drs are diagnosing off of chest X-ray and CT, much like China did. Hopefully her symptoms are light.

They tracked patients and have good testing so likely there mortality rate is accurate, Italy et al is probably total bs.
Pro tip: You can usually get around the pay walls by opening articles in incognito mode in chrome, or private mode on your phone browser (safari).

The United States failed at testing early on. We are now up against inertia, and it is unclear how difficult it will be to stop.

Skimming thru the last 6 pages, I don’t recall any conversation when comparing death rates of Influenza A or B versus Covid-19: A major difference has to include immunization rates that reduce infection or morbidity of the “flu” versus and viable antivirals (Tamiflu) whereas there is no herd or individual resistance or well known medications (yet) to fight the new virus.
Flu shots save multitudes of lives. Hopefully there will be a viable vaccine for Covid-19.
I also don’t recall much discussion here regarding the hopeful news that Plaquenil alone or in combination with azithromycin is showing early promising stories. Cuomo certainly seems to have gone all in for chloroquine (Plaquenil) with news outlets reporting NY ordering a huge number of doses (millions?)

If you apply Germany's 0.4% mortality rate to the CDC estimated 60 million swine flu infections in the US for 2009 you get ~250k dead. Hopefully that's still an order of magnitude off.

So many mixed messages who knows what to think? I know one thing, if was on my death bed, start throwing and see what sticks..
Ps. If you’ve been reading the reports of chloroquine uses in treating the virus, don’t drink fish tank cleaner that contains chloroquine phosphate because it’s 100% more deadly than the virus.. lol..

I predict the governor will be proven both right (needs controlled studies) and wrong (it’s gonna be effective in the short term, and not many long term problems).
Every Monday for breakfast our family would take a then newish drug chloroquine as a malarial prevention dose. Most of my current Facebook MK friends share that they did their weekly dose on Sundays. Returning more recently to either East or West Africa I’ve used other anti malarials as there has been a significant resistance by Plasmodium species.
