Hello guys, thanks for the photos Trent. You know, I was going to suggest doing something to your daughter's field ( ie. re-seed) but from looks of all the tracks in the area, something is right, so maybe it shouldn't be touched. Its just a shame that the field will probably grow up in shrubs and then it would be a bigger job to work on. Man, I would love to have a stand set up on it, especially if field had soyabean planted. Talk to you later. DS

Big ben we did the same this year as we have in the past.
Stayed home relaxed and said happy new year to whoever was still awake in the house. Simple and easy just the way I like to make plans. We have been busier than a one armed paper hanger and then we did a dumb thing and got a puppy to boot. (pics to come latter)

Thought I would post a copy of my deer from this year. It was an 8pt and 190lb. I usually forget to get pictures, but my brother gave me this one (framed) for Xmas.

I'm back

Hello everyone , I'm back after all the hassel from xmas/new years. I see you guys all survive and are recouping from self inflickions :D . That is a nice looking pic you got there dave of that buck. Nice talking to you the other night on the phone.I bet the family had to twist your arm to get that puppy you got there bruce :) Ben hows that hand coming , are you at full draw yet or still working on it. I just came from (Lowes) site where I apply for a secondary job to get me by the dark evening here. Speaking of here it is raining still dave and I'm getting stir crazy not doing nothing.Allso I place time off for the last week in may (22-->26/monday being a hoilday) So we are set for turkey hunt here, Going to go out and take all the dead fall and make a couple ground blinds for us. So set you sites for that week and let me know if you and your son going to be coming. We will go to bass-pro a few times I'm sure and we can make the extra trip to Cabelas as well. hump I guess that means you need to practice with the turkey call you got there , Bet wife loves to hear it and puts her to sleep at night :p . Speaking of practice I need to try out the 20 guage to see where the most shots are covering on a target to have it set for you guys. I'm still debating on putting in for my moose tag for home since it open up here for me , alot of $$$ to invest for a few days , good thing I got til april to apply and if I do get hire at lowes I will aplly for sure. Still need a guide tho, And I hope to be able to leave half there to who ever hunts with me . Dam laws crossing the border may change and I half to bring all the carcas back :MAD will see.I'm sure there is more I can go on about but don't want to bore the hell out of you all so I will leave it at that. I just might take the tree cam back out one more time this year til later in the fall. Well guys have a good upcoming weekend , I know I miss the camp already and wish I could forsee the future weather wise. I make that trip. So until next time have a good one , later.

Hey Trent if I do not get my own Moose license or my buddy get his then you have a free guide here in Canada. I may be using the work guide wrong. I should say tag along that alows you to hunt if you know what I mean. You know of more areas to hunt moose around here than I do.

Hello Guys, I went to today with my neighbour (trapper) to check his snares. Nothing caught today. Thought I'd post a few pics though. The first ones are him sinking some snares for beaver/otter and the last two are of a couple coyotes he got yesterday.

morning all

Real nice picture you got there dave , do I know this ice cutting person :) And were the dogs shot over a carcass or trap as well. I know one thing seeing that there is so little snow back home makes me wish I was there. Great time to be out and exploring new hunting areas to see what is out there for signs. I know right where I would be if I was there . I go out behind that moose stand I was in and hit that stream and follow it either way.dang temped to take time off hump , that be the easy part the hard part would be the mmmoooolllllllaaaaa that does not seen to be in my pocket  weather here is not to bad , snow comes one day and leaves the next. Think I'm going to go out and set tree cam up again , You guys think the bucks still have horns on ? I seen pics on here a few days ago and can not find it where someone had some kind of seed in a tray that was bringing in deer and other animals. anyone seen it or know what I could use to attract critters. I guess I will go and get breakfest on the way. we are having hamOmlet with hot deer susage :D yum yum time togo, later. Keep up the pics dave I love those ones.

quick note

I'm back I just remember something, I was at work and one of the workers brings in the paper every day.(I hope that it is still there). I didn't geta chance to read the thing but another worker said it is true and that there is wild boars here and there is not a law on them yet so you can shoot them year round. That is as far as I got and we had to go to work and I guess it says that in the paper as well.It shows a guy on opening day with a buck and a bonus as he call it and a boar as well. So be prepared for a turkey/pig hunt dave :D no way am I letting free bacon walk by our blind if chance arouses. ok I'm off to cook again later.

hey guys, free guide here if you luck out trent, for me as well as bruce counting i dont get a liscence, nice buck dave, sure looks good,my hand is coming around, hopefuly i will be able to shoot my bow soon, otherwise pretty quiet up here, still shooting your bow bruce?take care guys see you later :D

Hello Guys, Nice to hear from you all.
Trent, it is great going here right now. Ground is frozen with little snow on it. Rivers and larger streams aren't frozen safe though. Temps are little below freezing, so it makes perfect walking and scouting. Only thing is that most deer have migrated to what ever winter browse they have left. There isn't much deer sign scattered about. But when you find an area where they are living, there is a fair amount of sign. How about that pig hunting? I imagine they are closer to the Pennsylvania border. I wonder how they taste? I have no problem coming down in May, anytime. What ever the best week for you would be fine with me. See if we can get us some turkey. I don't believe Kevin can come with me as he might be buying a home this summer and has to come up with a large down-payment, therefore he has to watch his money. But that can change. Those coyotes were caught in snares. He has already caught 9 and there is two months left of season, and the best part of the season. Last year he caught 10 during the whole season, so this should be a real good season for getting rid of coyotes. His name is Dwight, he lives beside my house on the corner. I might get away with him next weekend as well. I'll be able to post new photos then.

Still, sorry about not hooking up with you before you had to go back to work. Seems like when ever I went to town I travelled to Saint John. But I'll give you a shout when ever I know I am coming to Fredericton. What is your work shift? Its a long winter and I am sure we will coincide times sometime.

Ben, I have been reading the thread you started on tips. I wish I had something to add but you are having some good responses anyway. Alot of these I will be putting to use as they will make some money savings and also help increase the odds of getting game. Hope to meet you in the future as well. Maybe a fishing trip??

No problem Mooseheadred as I was going in every direction that you can imagine. Like you said we will catch up to each other eventualy.
I think I am going to have to check out this thread on tips for hunting though.
Thanks for that tip right there.
