    Sound Familiar Dads?

Brothers... :) We were staking out a waterhole for pigs at dusk, and I was supposed to take the first shot as I had only previously bagged a little 90 pounder while he had a couple big tuskers to his credit. Well , this big red pig with nice tusks comes in and my older brother shoves me...

    Balistics on the .270, 7mm, 300 WSM

That is really cool, Oscar. I did the same kind of thing at that age. I gave you a couple links. I like this one for my handloads after I've chrono'ed them. It still requires verification by actually shooting, but then I tape them on my stock if I anticipate long shots...

    270 WSM or 300 WSM

From first/original post question: Go with the .300 if he has shot your .300 Win Mag.and did well with it. He'll grow into it and it'll be more versatile.

    Colt Peacemaker 22lr/mag

Sytes - Sorry for the late reply. No, I reload for .38/.357, .44 and .45 Colt with the Speer shot capsules and #12 shot for snakes. I don't use the sleeves to shoot .22s. Yes, the Judge is illegal in CA. No surprise there. :(

10X or 8X binos, what is your choice?

I did that once, and scared both me and a guy in full camo as I glassed him with my scope and tried to figure out what I was seeing on opening day of deer season. This was many years, ago, and I've never done it since. I was so embarrassed and probably would have deserved whatever he might...

    Prairie Dogs

Just got back from another trip to Arizona. I have to say that a 40 gr V-Max from a .223 at 160 yards is not fur friendly for coyotes....

Shoulder mount ideas on this buck

It is hard to tell from this angle, but this a kinda/sorta semi-sneak. The buck is about 12 feet up on the wall, so the photo is looking up at him. The top of his skull is only about 3 or 4 inches over the top of his back and he is turned slightly to the side. I'd have to be standing at my...

    Barrel cleaning products

I use Hoppes or Butch's to get the carbon fouling out and then I use either PatchOut or WipeOut to get the copper out. I've used Sweets but the smell is awful and I always worry about getting it all out.

    My first mule deer....

    Working in Atlanta this week...

I go to St. Louis every once in a while for business, and the first time, the freeway back to the airport was shut down due to some shooting. Of course, it was in January, so there was snow. No directions anywhere - just push you off the freeway and into the 'hoods.

    Colorado Filming Permit Denied

Even in So Cal, the BLM areas where off-road vehicles, etc. are allowed - you can still hunt, but shotgun only.

    I couldn't resist

No, I only have the one picture of him...but it bugs him so much I can't help myself. ;) You have to admit - it IS funny. (At the old Hunt Talk, the guy used to post immeditately following every post I made in the Politics section at first, and then he began to do it everywhere...so the...

    What shuld I get

If you don't reload, get the .223. Ammo is cheaper and plentiful.

    Help!

If you don't reload, I'd suggest a .223 as factory ammo is plentiful and less expensive. I think the 45 gr hollowpoint Win white box (40 rounds in the box, I think) is pretty good ammo. If you are calling, you don;t really need a heavy-barreled varmint rifle. Anything from an inexpensive...
