The difference is how permanent the damage to the resource is. Also, humans have a much higher capacity to do damage to the resource which is why an example needs to be set...Honestly, I think the penalty should have been higher.

I watched one drink from the dangerous springs. lol The 8 or 10 that ran through while I was there seemed to pay no attention to the signs or the boardwalk. Although, one did follow the boardwalk for a bit.

I think it is good that he got jail time or a harsher sentence maybe some people will think twice before doing it. With the millions of people going through the park each year if everyone does what he did there would not be much to look at after a while.

The thing is not to let up on this but to be harder on poaching.
