Wolf Twist #2

Lewis and Clark ate wolves when they ran out of game.

They were fond of their own dogs and would not eat them, but held wolves in regard just above fish, which they loathed due to the lack of caloric content.

In my Liberal Eco Terroist Wolf Lover Handbook its says the preferred bed room hand gun of the group is a Glock 40, let it out you are sportin a 41 and ya may get kicked out.:D

This may lead some to disbelieve my assertion that I am not a gun freak, but .41's are way cool. Small frame Taurus is the perfect carry for many July/Aug. days/nights I spend backpacking around Grizzly Central. Hope I never have to use it. And no I won't shoot a wolf with it, being a liberal Eco Terrorist Wolf Lover as I am. As an aside...truth be known, when the first wolves got dumped out in YNP, I was one of those thinking it wouldn't be that big of a deal......ate those words big time.

This liberal eco terrorist has a .41 in the bedroom, a gun safe full of firearms - including semi autos - and dead animals hanging and perched all around the house. This liberal eco terrorist also just saw (NBC local news) some Montana hunter from an outfit called Lobo Watch not liking this idea.

I have a .41 too, that is so weird. Are you married? Kids? We have a lot in common. You went to Helena last week, so did I. You hunt, so do I. I have dead chit on my walls too! I saw Toby Bridges on TV tonight too! You write weird assed posts, I write,,,,,,,,,,,, OK, so were not so much.:D

I suppose a photo of a dude drinking beer with nothing but a Tartan bed sheet keeping his junk out a photo is normal.......no kids - children should not have children. Married in spite of my behavior. Wife kills nice critters every year because she has me to pack them out. Probably only reason I am still married.

I was afraid to teach my wife how to shoot a gun. PMS problems:W: Shhhh, here she comes, bye.

I've had a .41 since 1987, ruger blackhawk. I havent shot it for a long time.

A buddy and I bought a bullet mold from Hensley and Gibbs out of Oregon. The guy that made the mold for us also sent copies of the original drawings that Elmer Keith gave him for the design of the 41 bullet and mold. He worked up the mold based right off the sketches. We molded a few thousand hard cast keith grade bullets...my buddy shot a bear with his 41 and the bullets we molded. Worked exactly as Elmer said they should. Hard cast keith grade bullets will flat penetrate bone and muscle...

Quit sucking me into this gun talk BS. I load the five cylinder with Federal cast cores. Been thinking about checking out Double Tap solids...on paper ballistically superior to Federal. That ballistic difference may:( help me sleep better at 9600 ft at the head of Beaver Cr. ..... what's the topic again???

Here's a e-mail that Defenders lawyers are sending out:

Dear pro-wolf fanatic ( I put that part in)

Congress' efforts to pass budget legislation that would strip wolves of their federal protections have forced the environmental community into a corner.

If the legislation passes, it would mark the first time a species was delisted from the Endangered Species Act by an act of Congress. That would set a truly terrible precedent with grave implications for other imperiled species like the polar bear, salmon, and grizzly bear.

In the face of this unprecedented threat to endangered species protections, the coalition of environmental organizations that Earthjustice represents on behalf of the wolves has chosen to split up and pursue a variety of strategies to head off catastrophe.

Because the coalition of clients is no longer operating as one unified body, Earthjustice as a law firm must, as a matter of legal ethics beyond our control, withdraw as the attorneys of record in the courtroom battle for the wolves. For now.

Make no mistake, Earthjustice remains firmly committed to the full recovery of the wolves of the northern Rockies. And we are stalwart in our defense of the Endangered Species Act and the vital protections that it provides for our nation's wildlife.

For us, as a matter of legal necessity, our battle has moved from the courtroom to Capitol Hill.

As I write to you, Earthjustice's legislative experts are actively lobbying officials on Capitol Hill to oppose new legislation that would strip protections for wolves and undermine the Endangered Species Act.

But we need you to act too. Here's what you can do: pick up the phone and call your Senators. Oppose, in your own passionate words, any legislation that would undermine strong protections for the wolves and other endangered species. Tell them: A budget bill is no place to make life-and-death policy decisions for our nation's wildlife.

Call the Capitol Operator at (202) 224-3121 and ask to speak to your Senators.

This is not the end of the fight--not by a long shot. We fully intend to be back in court fighting for the wolves when the time is right. For now, our battle is on Capitol Hill. And we will fight it with everything we have.

Thank you for standing with us during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Doug Honnold
Managing Attorney, Northern Rockies Office

I am not an attorney, but I find it peculiar that Malloy could reverse his earlier decision, based on some negotiation. I thought the law was the law.

I personally doubt Malloy will accept the settlement. As much as I disagree with his findings, I will give him the benefit of doubt that he ruled on a matter of law. A matter of law does not change because some plaintiff attorneys changed their minds.

I guess we will soon know what Malloy does.

Not to rain on a happy day but the above is a very astute observation. I had Malloy for a lawyer on a personal case before he became important and from personal experience I would be really surprised if this agreement will even make him blink. He is the type of individual who could care less what somebody says or things - the law is the law in his book. Malloy is the best damn interpreter of law ever born - and if you don't believe me just ask him.

OK, real question. So, the 10 groups can go back to the Judge, where the case was heard. Ask for a do over, and say, "oops, we were wrong, go back" and if that can happen, then my question would be, does all the money that the Federal Government gave Earth Justice for the case get paid back?

After talking with some of our good friends over on MM, I was informed that Wyoming's Fish & Game commission could change the management plan for the state. So I looked up the info. Sure enough, if the Wolf is delisted "First" then the commission could regulate what areas are trophy status, or predator status. So if Wyoming signs an agreement to take the wolf off of Predatory status in the rest of the state, the USF&WS can delist. Nobody touches the ESA. The fly in the ointment, is the 4 wolf lover groups that haven't signed on yet.
