why the code name

Many many years ago, I was in field training when I got sent to a possible home invasion in progress. I accidentally drove by the house and didn’t want to park with my back to the house so I went down the block and turned around. My buddy, who was coming to back me up, pulled up and asked “you doing a little Recon first or what?”
Since then everyone called me Recon and my call sign is “6036”

And I apologize. The nice kid was named Joe. But we read Tobacco Road in English class and one of the characters was a degenerate Southerner named Jeeter. So that became his new name.
Rambling explanation.
The weird associations that stick in your head.
Gee-Tar it is.
@geetar
No apology needed. It made me laugh. 😂 It is funny how we associate things like that.

At least you didn't park in front using your FTO as cover!

Mine is just an abbreviation of my last name. It is what everyone called me as a kid all the way through high school and a few still call me to this day.

It wasn't my first choice. My first choice was already taken. It turns out it was taken by me way back when I joined this forum twenty some years ago then drifted away and forgot about it.
