What is the Oldest Rifle You Actually Hunt Big Game with ?

Sporterized Spanish Mauser model 93, made in 1901. It’s still in the original 7x57 mm.

I have other former military rifles built during the First World War that I hunt with.
Another sporterized Mauser here.

Model 1908 Argentina made by Steyr in Austria. Don't know what year it was actually built. 7x57 with receiver finished in the white. Killed a lot of whitetail with this gun.

I had the barrel cut at 25" and can get pretty impressive velocities with my handloads. Close to a 1" performer with a good load.

Rem 760 30-06. No idea of the date of mfg, but it’s old and well worn. Belonged to my wife’s grandfather, so I’ll never get rid of it. I only seem to see bucks when I carry it, and it has never killed a doe that I know of... kinda fits the era that it came from. I hunt with it about twice per year, and have killed at least 3 bucks with it. Not the most accurate (even though it has turned in several sub-1” groups from the bench), but plenty for the woods hunting that I use it for

The youngest shotgun I hunt with got pressed into service this morning. Grandpa's 97 Winchester came through again. I don't think it has ever failed on a turkey.

My oldest is a Remington model of 1917 and it was produced in Sept 1918. It was rebarrel and configured into a 300 H and H. It is used for moose hunting to this day. Next is Carl Gustav 3000 in 6.5 x 55 Swede. Its a shooter. Next would be my childhood Hiawatha 22 LR that was sold from McLeod's Hardware from the 60's. Here are shots pics from giving them a tune up.

Up until recently my goto gun was my grandpa’s Savage ‘06 that he won at a bar in Great Falls, MT 81 years ago.

I don’t use it much anymore, but I have killed a deer with a Steyr M95 that has been rebarrelled to .30-40 Krag and sporterized. I am the third generation in my family to have hunted with it.

My oldest would be my Ruger M77 tanger in 30-06. Bone stock set up
with a VX3 3.5-10x40. Came into my possession for $100 back in 1988 from a guy who needed date money quick. Had a tasco scope on it that was like looking thru a plastic water bottle. Thought I was high cotton when I put that Bushnel Trophy 3-9x40 on it. The Bushnel wasnt the best glass but it held zero bouncing around on a swamp buggy and atvs for a decade. I finally had to adjust a click or two that 11 th year.
After I moved on from it my cousin would use it when he came down to Florida for his annual hog hunt. I

My '54 Marlin 336 and my '49 Marlin 336 Waffle Top. I've killed a few deer with the '54, but nothing yet with the '49 (a relatively new acquisition).

Not a rifle, but I killed my first 2 turkeys with my grandpa's Winchester Ranger 140 (a poor man's 1400). From what I can tell they were only made for a short time in the 60s (my dad doesn't remember when my grandpa bought it). Unfortunately, the last turkey load I put through it sheared off a pin inside and it doesn't work. At some point I'm going to see if I can get a gunsmith to do something with it because I loved shooting clays with it.

I regularly use 2:

1. Beretta A300 (made in 1967) 12ga that my grandfather gave me. It is the shotgun that I learned to shoot birds with and has a very high round count. Still goes with me on every dove hunt.

2. S&W 1500 in 270 (made in 1982) that my dad gave me. It was his hunting rifle for years and he gave it to me when I was about 13. It has killed countless deer and hogs. I made the mistake of running a scope down the barrel. It has significant pitting, but continues to shoot well. I had it out at the range last week and shot a .38 MOA group with 130gr Hornady IL handload.
Was this the Howa version made in Japan?
