Caribou Gear Tarp

What are you currently reloading?

Well, I shot some .429 200 gr hammers out of the 50 cal muzzy. Even knurled a few to make them fit tighter. That helped a little. Still DeerOA at 100yds 4".
17 gr 110 speer in 30/30 1 1/2" at 100. Good enough for practice. You get a lotta shots at 17gr apiece. Will consume primers though.
Next up is 130 gr speer sp in 308W with H4895. Figure out the load ladder and go from there.

I go out to our range at least one day every week. Been doing that for over 40 years.

On a typical range day I'll start on a 25 yard pistol range and shoot, offhand at my RR tie plate gong, 2 cylinders or magazines through each of 4 pistols: 9 mm EMP, 6" Model 19 S&W .38 Spl, 4" Model 629 S&W .44 spl, and Gov't Model 1911 .45 acp.

I'll then go over to the main rifle range and if I have any load development I'll shoot it at targets at 100, 200, 300, and/or 430 yards, off a bench, otherwise I'll shoot 3 or 3 rifles prone off a mat, at the steel gongs at the above distances, starting at 200 yards. The 2 rifles that I always shoot each week are both Weatherby Vanguards in .223 and .308, and I'll normally shoot 3 rounds with each rifle at each of the 2 and 300 yard gongs and 4 shots at the 430 yard gong.

After that I'll go over to the Skeet range and shoot 3 or 4 lines of Skeet.

So that gives me a lot of options of what to reload each week. 3 or 4 boxes of 12 ga shotshells is a given every week. I load the shells for my pistols, .223, and .308 on my Dillon press, and I usually load 200 or so of each cartridge at a time so that I don't have to take the time to re-set the press to the different cartridges.

A couple of weeks ago I just finished putting my 7 mm RM Model 700 barreled action into a Weatherby Vanguard Griptonite stock. Since this is one of my favorite and most used hunting rifles, I have also been shooting it every week. Yesterday I loaded 40 rounds for it with 160 grain Sierra HPBT bullets using my new RCBS eletronic powder dispenser and my Rockchucker press.

And now with Montana Antelope season opening in a little over a month, I'll be practicing and reloading for my .257 Ackley.

Currently loading up my final test loads for my .300 PRC with 199 gr Hammer Hunters. One batch with H1000 and another with N568. Been seeing more speed from the H1k, but lower SD and ES from the N568. Hoping to finally mail down what I’ll be shooting for my elk season in October.

Next in the list is some 131 gr Hammers in my .30-06 with either Varget or 6.5 Staball, then this winter it’ll be RUM time.

Savage model 10 .223 Remington match and 68 HPBT with a2200. Still need to settle down between 19.5 and 20.0 gr and if it will work in the AR platforms

Hope to finally get to the .280 Remington over Labor Day too.

Haven’t decided which scope to add to it yet.

Pulling down a bunch of 140 Sierra GKs in 264WM. 73.6 grains of H870 was my magic pill for years.

I just decided the headspace was too tight. I'm gonna push the shoulders back a bit, then I start working up 120 HH loads.

Loaded up some Sierra 165 BT for the .300 WM.

I need to put a few rounds through the Mesa and see how different holds/pressure affects POI. Should be able to get to that this week.

Also confirming clean bore shift. Looks like this gun definitely likes a couple of fouling shots.

After all of that, I’ll confirm zero and then shoot at 400 to confirm drops. Can’t do that right now due to fire restrictions.

7mm-08--139 grain Hornady interlock with 46.5 grains of Reloader 19 cci Large rifle magnum primer.

223--75 grain Speer gold dot with 25.5 grains of varget cci small rifle primers.

223--52 grain Speer hollow point with 26.5 grains hodgens cfe223 cci small rifle primers

257 weatherby magnum-- 100 grain scirocco with 72 grains of imr 7828ssc federal large rifle magnum primers.
Can i possibly recommend that you go to a faster burning powder than RL19 for your 7mm-08 & 139gr bullets?

W760, any of the 4350s, Ramshot Big Game, Alliant RL16, RL17, PP2000MR will all give you better velocities.
Plus won't be so compressed.

Thsnk you for the recommendation but,I had my 7mm-08 rebarreled last year with a shaw barrel. I tried several different reloads I worked up with imr/hodgens 4350 w760 varget imr 4064. I couldn't get the groups I wanted and some wouldn't group at all. I shot Reloader 19 with 139gr bullet for the last 15 years in 2 different rifles and it worked.

Well, i went to load up some 25-06 & 25WSSM yesterday.
But found out the digital calipers died.
Even with a dehumidifier running almost constantly the humidity levels in the basement wreak havoc on them.
Ordered a set of Brown & Sharpe dial calipers. Should be here on Thursday.

270 Winchester, 1st target is 117 hammer hunters with 54.5 through 57 grains of IMR 4350 in 1/2 grain increments. I wouldn’t mind trying 2 things. Push them harder, no signs of pressure at this point and I would like to shoot some groups in the 56 to 56.5 range to see what that looks like.

2nd target same as the first with RL 19. Same opinion with this as well. No pressure signs. Push harder and try maybe try some in the 55.5-56 range to see what that looks like.

Good news is you’ve got a nice big velocity node to work with in both cases.

Hi folks, I reload for a variety of things -

.223 Rem
.257 Roberts
7x64
9.3x62
.404 Jeffery
.44 mag (Lever action in my case)

Scrummy

Loaded up a bunch of bullets in the last couple months for something to do. I'm hopeful that I can find some Accubonds in the next year or two. :(

M70 SS 352WSM and 200gr Accbonds with H4350, shoots awesome not super fast but enough 2850fps
M700 375 H&H - has a 19" barrel so I loose a fair amount of velocity. I'm shooting 270gr Speer with RL15, getting 2550fps. I got about 150fps more out of my M70 with 26" barrel.
Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel, just started playing with this one. loaded up some 95gr v-max with H380. Haven't shot them yet, other powder and light bullets have been impossible to find.
M700 280rem mountain rifles (2) - RL22 or IMR4831 and 160gr Accubonds they shoot about 2800-2825fps, but accuracy is very good in both rifles with both powders.
M700 and Kimber 308win - Varget and 165 Accubonds, both shoot really well, velocity is 2725fps

I need to make a bunch of new cases for both my 35 Brown and 338-06imp this winter, down to about 30 cases for each.

Was thinking about playing around with some Hammer bullets in my Grendel and 260. 100gr in each would be pretty hard on critters I would think. My kids will be getting old enough to shoot stuff with them sooner than I think.
