I’m a little over half way through this one. Not as good as Young Men and Fire, but I didn’t expect it to be. It’s still a well written book and John obviously inherited talent for writing from his father, Norman.

Have this one on my bookshelf. I picked up Young Men and Fire after seeing you recommend it on here. Absolutely gutwrenching, painful read.

I’m listening to the audio audiobook ‘empire of the summer moon’ while painting a house.

Knowing very little about the subject, I’m finding it very interesting including all of the historical information.

Is this book considered fairly accurate?

Considered one of the best works on Plains Indians, yes. Got a whole bookshelf of other recommendations if you want to deep dive on the topic.

Not so much a read, it’s a podcast but not a really a podcast - Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History. I started the series SuperNova in the East about Japan and WWII.

Intricately researched, and like having a conversation with an amazing history professor. Each episode is like +\- 4 hours long, so not a weekly affair. Amazing.

Dang, I think about this book quite often and some of the stuff written in it. I read probably a dozen books in a row on Americas expansion and had to take a break. I still don't know anywhere close to the full history of our country and it isn't even that old.

There sure is some interesting history and a lot of it.

Living in New Zealand all other countries seem to have a lot of history, I believe ours was the last country to be settled both in terms of the original inhabitants (Māori) and the European settlements.
