Wakesurfing article - Good to see some headway on this

I am sure this is just a snarky internet post, but as a member of a family that has been touched by suicide I must do the "dad post" in response.

If you do in fact think of ways to commit suicide in anymore than the most fleeting fashion these are called "suicidal ideations". Some folks have them and never intend anything with them and never act on them, but some folks are later hit with a bout of depression or major life crisis and then spontaneously act on the ideation. You are probably fine, but if you tend to have such thoughts regularly, if you or family members suffer from anxiety, depression or manic episodes, please find a qualified professional to talk to. "Mere" suicidal ideation can be an early watch out sign if paired with other stressors and is not something just to take without introspection.

If you have concerns but don't know where to start, you can always try 1-800-273-8255 hotline or text 741741
A bit of personal experience to tie into this for what it is worth.

When I started on TRT (due to diagnosed deficiency and injury), I went through a period of probably 6+ weeks where I would have random bouts of suicidal ideation every single day. I never explored it or intended to take any action on it, but the thoughts came regularly and without warning. After my body adjusted to the therapy the thoughts (along with issues/adjustments such as anger issues, wild emotional swings, etc.) eventually stopped but it took time. Before they had ceased completely I opened up to wife about it to make sure she was in the loop and knew where I was. That was probably the best thing for me at the time.

All of that nonsense is behind me now. And I'm thankful I didn't struggle with suicidality prior to starting TRT as I can only imagine how much worse it could have been.

I appreciate you saying this and I wasn’t trying to snarky or silly, just typing and pressing “post reply” a little too flippantly. There are things that shouldn’t be joked about and I should be more careful in my speech
I wasn't trying to scold - just wanted to make sure if help was needed help was offered. I have missed it in the past and won't do it again.

Suicide jokes to me is like cracking a black female driver joke at an NAACP woman’s leadership conference, wrong audience. Though hypothermia would be a nice exit compared to other events. I’ve never been diagnosed hypothermic, though have been so cold I felt warm and it was not a bad feeling.

Been in the same boat after falling through the ice one night. As I clung to the edge of the ice doing my best to keep my head above water I remember thinking “this dying isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.”

Well Ben, you got it right
There’s more to the story they aren’t telling us. He took out the life insurance and his family in Wisco was the beneficiary. The sheriff said he has some serious issues he needs to clear up. I’m going to guess someone wants him dead for some kind of debt. Maybe gambling?

No it was his wife. I got the extra details. He felt the only way out of his marriage was to flee the country and the only way he could avoid his wife looking for him was for her to think he was dead. He is very likely in uzbekistan, a country that will not allow the US to extradite a person. He has a job and an apartment and living a new life

My wife works with the sheriff's wife. She updated the gossip girl hospital workers yesterday what she learned from her hubby

I guess it could be worse. Many people have thought the only way out was to kill their spouse.

He made his appearance in the Green Lake County Courthouse actually today. There he was charged with obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor.

Not sure if he already posted bond but it's a whooping 500 bucks. His next day in court is Jan 13th. I'm guessing he just pleas with the court and it's over.
