Ukraine / Russia

"Putin is a smart guy, really smart guy, everybody is saying it, brilliant guy . . . . " quote from 2025 state of the union address if we don't get our sh*t together.
I don’t associate with a party. But I can’t fathom them standing behind him as the nominee with all the negativity he is surrounding himself with.

Let’s jump on this boat, the CPT keeps shooting holes thru the deck with the cannon but it’s Joe’s fault so it’s all ok.

2021 we are/were buying oil from Russia and still are and added just for fun we even now buy from Iran
Not to go down a rabbit hole, but we will always import some amount of hydrocarbon. There are a bunch of different types of petroleum products, you don’t use the same types of hydrocarbons to make plastic and jet fuel and we don’t have in the ground the sufficient quantities of all types to never have to import various types.

Generally speaking we produce a lot of light sweet and import heavy oil.

If Amazon can build a million sqft. building in a year, in NM, then plants can be built here that fast.
There is a vacant chip facility in Rio Rancho, Intel's origins. Open the plant and bring back the jobs where they belong.
The catch?
Do so or leave the country and pay back all back taxes, all welfare gifts in full & go live with putin or the chinese. Hell,NM could use the water they got for nothing elsewhere.

Pay Americans what they are worth and give them a life again. If you don't like it join the intel exit, after taxes.

Sorry BF, I fell to the defeatist attitudes.

Back Ukraine now, in full. Get a tax break.....lol

The problem in our system is a third or more of folks are voting against the other guy in most statewide and national elections. So it really doesn't matter what the person you are voting for is going to do, their biggest attribute is that they aren't the other person. Not really a good look for democracy.

I appreciate Jocko Willink for a lot of reasons. He’s got a fascinating podcast and a typically balanced perspective. Something else I appreciate about him is recently he has put out a few videos showing what he would do if he were president. So many bellyache about what the president does or doesn’t do, but few put it out there as to what they would do.

No comment on whether or not his take is the right thing to do, but Thought this was interesting.

FWIW - Intel starting planning for a big upgrade there at the beginning of 2021 with groundbreaking for about now and real production in a couple of years.

I listened to a few podcasts episodes he did on his Unraveling series with Daryll Cooper (who I've actually listened to for a longer time than Jocko) on the Russia situation.

Darryl provides really good background and history, though some listeners will bristle at his neutral or even favorable treatment of Russia/Putin. He pairs well with Jocko and the more military specific insights Jocko provides. I enjoy listening to the guy, count me as another vote of confidence for his opinion being worth listening to.

Talk about clever use of the web - Ukraine is making this real for Russian families.

From the BBC:

The Russian communications watchdog Roskomnadzor has blocked “Ishchi svoikh” ("Look for your own"), a website created by Ukrainian authorities for the families of Russian soldiers who had been killed or taken prisoner in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The website publishes photographs or documents of the men.
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry had announced on Saturday it was setting up the website and a social media channel with information about the Russian casualties and prisoners of war (POWs) to make it possible for the relatives in Russia to find out what happened to their loved ones.
Ukrainian presidential administration adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said the website was “our gesture of goodwill towards Russian mothers”.
Russian authorities admitted for the first time on Sunday that there had been Russian casualties in the course of the fighting that began on 24 February, but did not give any figures.
Ukraine says that 4,300 Russian soldiers have been killed since the start of the war. These numbers have not been verified.

Again, it’s not the building that’s the slow part, it’s the machinery inside.

I’ve built plenty of high tech manufacturing facilities and data centers - the OFCI Equipment procurement starts 2-3 years in advance, long before the design team starts clicking their piece into fruition.

Then knuckle draggers like me come in and knock it together.

Clayco can put one of Amazon’s buildings together rather quickly, but Amazon also starts buying/building their equipment YEARS before the shovel hits dirt.

A new level of crazy -

During his evening program tonight, Russian state TV presenter Dmitry Kiselyov delivered a monologue in which he posed the question: "why do we need a world if Russia's not in it?"

i.e., if you don't treat Russia as an "equal", we might as well have a nuclear holocaust and put an end to it all. That's comforting for the official mouthpiece of the Russian leadership to put on the table.

Maybe @BenInMT won’t need his ballot initiative after all.

Why you gotta drag me into this? My biggest, whitest problem is inequity in Montana hunting. I am a stakeholder and an expert on the future of elk in Montana. I am neither expert or stakeholder in future of Europe. Half you mf’ers couldn’t have found Ukraine on a map 2 weeks ago. Stay in your lane.

And ima a major rancher in Fergus County.

It was a light heated joke about a grave situation. My apologies.
