Ukraine / Russia

Then we have this argument as to what reality is:
Cawthorn’s tweet contains a link to an article called “World War Reddit'' with the caption “Propaganda is being used to entice America into another war. I do not want Americans dying because emotions pushed us into a conflict.” The linked article focused on multiple stories that have been written about the war that have turned out to be false after further examination

And lastly, this opinion seems to support the idea that health care facilities are in fact targets. Again Opinion.
The destruction of civilian health care structures by the Russian Army is not a chance result — nor is it collateral damage. Rather, it is a deliberate military strategy to create massive waves of refugees that destabilize and overwhelm civilian and military structures, first in Ukraine and then in surrounding countries.

Referencing Rove's comments in the article, it would be a historic level of irony if misplaying an odd affinity for Putin/Russia this spring ends up being the one thing that snaps a lot of longtime Republicans out of their orangeman trance.

Given how much we spend on ridiculous pork; consider it a bargain what Ukraine is doing for the west...
That’s an odd way to think of it. If it was going to be wasted on baseball cards and sodas, I would rather it be wasted in the United States not halfway around the world.

Not the most relevant piece of info, but I found it interesting. I had no idea there was such a huge discrepancy between the US, China and Russia when it came to defense spending. If we could just trim that number to 300 billion, we'd still be ahead if China and would be able to waste an extra 400 billion in the most imaginative of ways.🤣Need-Some-Random-Knowledge-Theres-A-Chart-For-That-Lifestyle-Nerd-Culture-Mind-Blowing-Awesome...png

Money doesn't win wars. We couldn't even control a bunch of Afghan goat farmers with a 800 billion dollar budget
No but it allows automation and remote effort. We lost 7k people in 20 years between iraq and afgan (at least per one of my links earlier).

I comfortably expect 60% to end up in the right hands and used for the right purpose. ;)

I don't even want to know the misused/nonuse/graft rate for our foreign aid programs. It would be too depressing, sometimes ignorance is bliss.
You’re generous. I was thinking maybe 10% reaches its target considering how stubbornly corrupt Ukraine is.

Real wars where the general population has skin in the game are hugely affected by industrial production aka money. Distant entanglements, not so much.
You could cut the US budget to 50 billion and we would still repel any invader from our soil. Can't think of many instances where invading someone's homeland worked out in the long run

No way in a protracted war against a modern large enemy would $50B be sufficient to actually win.

As for examples the "invader" won, Germany 1945, Japan 1945, US Civil War, Isreal several times, . . .

I would think getting your enemy out of your homeland is a win. What's the Taliban's defense budget? 50 billion was just a number I threw out. The point of my post was that is is very difficult to beat people who are fighting to preserve their homeland, it's an uncalculatable disadvantage.

maybe that's true but it comes with an incredible sacrifice. I'd rather over spend and not have anyone try, then crush anyone that does with technology.

I get your point and can't disagree if winning means a protracted devastating guerilla war for 20 years. But I would prefer to actually defeat the enemy at the war level, not the multiple-generations long insurrection phase.
