Caribou Gear Tarp

They’ve discovered the last best pockets of the west.

You mean to tell me the series Yellowstone isn't real life Montana!!! When I was in Wyoming I couldn't find Aparousa County or a Sheriff named Longmire...Didn't even see one shoot out or stumble upon a body along side the road. I am starting to think the TV producers aren't giving us the true to life stories here.

My wife is from Missoula and we went to one of her friend’s wedding in Big Timber. For the life of me I can’t remember the name, but there was a group of guys all wearing shirts from a hunting guide service. They were the absolute most unfriendly people I have ever met. I was working undercover narcotics at the time and had long hair and a goatee.

They appeared to be the most intolerant inbred people I had ever met. That was the most unfriendly place I have ever been. In my LE job I have been in some of the worst areas you can imagine. I have walked into gang infested strong holds for work and felt much more welcome than in Big Timber. Tell all the NR people to go there.

I really love MT and almost moved there two years ago. My wife’s parents passed and had a home about 5 miles up Grant Creek just past RMEF. The house was passed to my wife and she decided not to move back. She still loves the state but loves the ocean more.
The outfitter around there doesn’t have the best reputation.

However, The Windy Twig is nicer than Wolf Point by about a factor of 100.

Man, some of ya'll might find it depressing but I really think I could live in northeast MT. Somewhere like a Scobey doesn't seem like it would be a bad place to live. Problem I'd run in to is being hours and hours away from cold water fishing.

I've got a foster sister that lives part time in Wolf Point. They snowbird now, but they ran a small wheat farm around there. I could easily live in Eastern MT, but my wife wouldn't be joinging me, which is like 97% of a dealbreaker.

I know a guy who lives in Glasgow that frequents this forum. He’s a really good dude but has a completely twisted sense of humor and seems to like really cheap beer.

Probably a coping mechanism to deal with the wind.

Not naming any names like @Schaaf or anything….

WTB: my own ranch out in the sticks with a Starbucks and Costco within a 10 minute drive. I don’t want a big like 40 acre ranch. A 5-10 acre ranch would be fine. If I could find a place with the amenities of LA and the views of the mountains that would be ideal.

Im an amateur quilt competition judge, my wife is a part time pet therapist. Budget $1,340,000

Please PM me, I don’t want outsiders to see this and flood my (hopefully) new paradise.

I love eastern MT, also, but have the same choices-in-life issue (ie I chose marriage).

Ive been reading that Reddit group this morning thanks to this topic. There are a lot of these same topics - 'I am moving to MT to live in the mountains and homestead, where can I find work? hows the soil? whats the area like? etc etc' - from a lot of clueless soon to be disappointed prepper types. Someone needs to tell most of them, straight up, that they have a 3 month growing season and shitty soil, but I guess theyll learn on their own. 🤷‍♂️

This is close to the post from the soon-to-retire boomer, not as much the prepper-type that spawned this topic. There are a lot more retirees relocating than both the preppers/homesteaders or tech hipsters.

This is likely true.

“I have a multitude of health conditions and statistically will die in 13 years. We sure love our new little place 14 miles down a dirt road outside of a town of 800, that is 2 hours and 25 minutes from the nearest ER.”

Several days and I even found a bar called The Red Pony! There was no Native named Henry running it, in fact there were only top less ladies in cowboy hats and chaps. My wife wasn't a bit happy for some reason. I was in there for 3 hours asking where I could find Henry....just doing research while she and the dog waited in the truck. Side note...they did have a picture of Cushman with a sign that said "DO NOT SERVE" something about an unpaid tab, a midget, and a now out of order mechanical bull...

How many gun fights did you get into?

Everyone is reading topless and getting excited without realizing that it was actually autocorrect rephrasing toothless.
