I feel like the lone wolf with a vegetable dish.
Ratatouille is my thing. My mom gave me the cookbook in 1991, according to the inscription. I have certainly made this every year since the mid nineties. Think she was trying to inspire ( or domesticate...a little) her free spirit son i suppose.

New (two weeks old) baby in our house this year so we’re going to grandmas and only bringing the turkey. Been in the brine since this morning but I’ll toss it on the grill early tomorrow. Kinda nice to not have to bring much more than that this year.

Grandma Lois cranberry relish recipe:

One bag of cranberries medium chop
One orange chopped (peel included)
All of the sugar in the house !!



Make it a day or two before the feast, letting the ingredients get to know each other for your taste buds delight.

Your pies look better than mine. This sucker is hideous. It’ll be cut into bars tomorrow, so it won’t matter too much I guess.

I also made a load of whole wheat bread. That’ll be chopped up, too, to be dipped in fondue as an appetizer while the main course finishes up.

Last fall’s super jake saved for today. Aromatic fruit stuffing w/ Iowa white wine, and cloves. The lower neck skin got shot up, so I have the apple bacon substitute to keep the top of the breast from drying out.

Just got home from deer camp. Mom's here and made cinnamon rolls. After I eat this I'll start the smoker for the turkey and ham.

We're having fried chicken, but Southern wifey says Thanksgiving needs real stuffing with real turkey gravy! She crock-potted a couple of turkey legs for broth and asked if I would strip the meat for a side this morning.

So real stuffing scratch made from white bread and fresh veggies and real turkey broth gravy. No raisins or apples in this traditional stuffing, cause we ain't crazy!

Pecan pie for my wife's family, mashed potatoes and backstrap for my family. No corn syrup for me, sorghum molasses as God intended when He created the pecan tree.
