Thanksgiving food prep thread

New (two weeks old) baby in our house this year so we’re going to grandmas and only bringing the turkey. Been in the brine since this morning but I’ll toss it on the grill early tomorrow. Kinda nice to not have to bring much more than that this year.

We're having fried chicken, but Southern wifey says Thanksgiving needs real stuffing with real turkey gravy! She crock-potted a couple of turkey legs for broth and asked if I would strip the meat for a side this morning.

So real stuffing scratch made from white bread and fresh veggies and real turkey broth gravy. No raisins or apples in this traditional stuffing, cause we ain't crazy!

It should be a felony putting apples and raisins in stuffing.

A southerner is gonna make and eat white bread stuffing? Sacrilegious at best.

Cornbread stuffing/dressing from scratch with elk sausage is where its at.

I made two attempts at pumpkinseed toffee. Butter separated from the sugar both times. I gave up. 🤷‍♂️
Love toffee. i make a pile of almond toffee that is as good as Enstroms famous version. Makes great gifts.

Butter separating is often just cooking a tad too fast/hot. REALLY have to be patient with the cook to avoid butter separation. Turn your heat down some and let it slowly get tot he right stage before pouring it out of the pan.
