Likely inflationary. Might be shortages.
This an old abandoned, pre Bannock, Chinese goldmine in Western Montana. Imagine sailing across the Pacific, then going inland 600 or so miles through mostly wilderness, to work this claim with hand tools, in the middle of frozen nowhere in 1860 Montana Territory. Based on the size of the mined area, they gave up on it rather quickly. We can examine Chinese immigration in the late 1800's and draw parallels to the present. Robust economy with migrant workers. Then they got rounded up and sequestered. Economy slipped.
Don't know the answer.
Sad really. Presents a significant weakness of the Dem side to lose to someone you describe as a "[mad] cult leader".Your cult leader is mad.

My thoughts are, it must have really sucked in 1860 China, to put yourself through all that. Where they moved on to after this, is anyone's guess.

Curious how you determined the history?
I was just reading an article about these Chinese migrant workers. There were a handful of Western states that had significant populations, Montana was one of them. Like it, or not, they were a positive footnote in the history of the West.
Idaho did as well. They were also heavily involved in gold mining in Hells Canyon. That's pretty cool @BigHornRam

There was an entire large segment of Virginia City, MT, comprised of entrepreneurial Chinese, mostly there to support the miners by providing many services and businesses.Idaho did as well. They were also heavily involved in gold mining in Hells Canyon.
Ditto with San Frans Chinatown. Was a large population in SLO,CA.
Built RR's and cut firewood for it.
Many stayed there and became huge part of the community.
