Rio got a shower.
10pm...between heavy downpours & lightning. 2 towels.
He's all soft and silky...LOL

Lot's of flooding across state...the burns are bad.
More heavy rains here today,later.
Sunny now.
Wet & muddy in spots. Some foot high grass around the house with wildflowers.

Met with the guy building my shop Sat. Real nice guy with family style crew.
Grew up north of here. Hunted south of me as a kid.

Getting ready to take my neighbors truck to my mech. shop and bring mine back.
I'll have it gone thru,ac fixed and a new windshield installed.
Amador will bring it down this weekend.
He gets extra bull hunt spot for his family...,they drew 4 elk tags.

Try and make it back by 3pm and more heavy rain.
Stop at the Pie shop on way in and hope...

Bull bugled right in front of house last night.
Rio just came in...muddy feet,wet legs.

Great to hear your getting rain. We drove thru 35 miles of downpour coming home from flying into alb Saturday night. Raining so hard could only drive 45mph that whole time

Thunder up in those clouds as I ate lunch.
Temps dropped to 74 and the rain tried again...and for a minute I smelled the smell. Rain came off the roof and I opened the door.
Heaven.

I love the smell of a pending rain storm out west! You captured the sensation well.

Did your Starlink fail on you? I’ve been using it for a couple months and once I got it set up in a spot away from the trees I’ve been loving it.

Router took a dump.
I went back to hughs with new system. Almost as fast as link but ok wifi so I can do video visits with doc's. Some short buffering.

Got home after a downpour just now. Big one heading this way.
County road was sloppy but new rocked part here is great.

Paintbrush scarlet and orange patches by the hwy.
Yearling elk wandering in small groups.
Mama's kicked em out of the house.

Another inch or so last night. Nice steady soaking rains.
Same today then dry for a week,maybe.

Shed guys just dropped of trailer of material.
I told them lets cover and wait til after the 4th. 80% chance today.
I hate chancing ruined material. They agreed and we have a plan.

They just walked into more work if they prove themselves.
Very nice guys that seem to know what they are talking about.
Hard to find these days.

Boss man loves dobies. He has puppies...OMG!

RIP Rio.
Took him for the last ride yesterday afternoon.
He was ready.
The last 2 weeks were hard, but he tried.
He was at least 12. 7 with me.
Oh Man...He was the best.

Been hot. In the 90's again.

Asked the shed guy Monday if he would help me load him after I made the call.
No Problemo. He has Dobermans.

Yesterday his son and crew showed up @0800.
Rio and I were sitting together watching the morning.

A knock on the door and he is standing there with a puppy. A female Dobie.
Rio looked at me and went to greet her.
She is shy. And little,8 weeks.
He is huge.
They spent the morning together.
Shared some food and water.
Shared a bite or two, of each other.

Rio came in and layed on my feet and the puppy took a nap on my lap after he really let her know he did not approve of the jumps on him.

Noon.
Rio gives me a smile and we walk to the truck.
Dad comes over and says ," You don't have to keep her". But she is a gift.
Son helps me load Rio.
"I'll be back in 3 hours."

Have not slept much this week.

But I have to stay positive to stay alive.

Every time I fell asleep last night,she dropped a deuce.
I finally gave up and went to bed.
Took me half an hour to catch her and get her back in the house just now. But success.

She is on Rio's living room bed on his bankie.
She comes to a whistle and extended hand. But shy.
Hand licks and wiggles.

Second successful catch and release after...man she can eat and drink.

Cried while I set up the funeral pyre just now.
A final pet and good bye.

I would not have known about the cancer if he hadn't knocked me over that day 4 years ago. He went thru it all with me.
While I got better,he grew old.
He gave me it.

He gave me the best. Of Me.

Damn. Didn't realize he was that bad. It's a whole different feeling letting go of a pet. Hopefully the new bundle of energy can help fill the void. Training time for both of you now!
