Springtime Hog Hunt

JohnSWA, I don't think there is a deal as of yet. There's just a couple of us who has thrown out some hunts so everyone can see them, so the group can pick which one everybody thinks would be best for what the group is looking for. I think they're all good hunts, they'll just have to figure out which one will fit best for the group..

Hey ya'll if none of the hunts some of us has posted works out for ya'll you might want to take a look at this place. I know it isn't in TX. or near San Antonio but I have really been hearing some good things about this place. We don't represent them or have any ties to them at all but I still wanted to let you know what's out there for ya'll.

Thanks SJ! I'd sure like to get some dates together to get some $ set for the trip! SJ, Maniac, Dan, Moosie....Let's git er dun!

I have a call in to Clay right now to find out about the spot and stalk issue and on the size of porkers one can expect from this hunt.

Well guys, I'm up for anything in the Austin-San Antonio area and just about any time before the end of April. I want archery, but will hunt with a rifle if that's the decision. Maybe even a visit to the goat ranch.. I will stick a hog before the years out, though.. So you guys with the more discriminating taste decide what you want to do and I'm up for it if it meets those few requirements.

Well the hunt in Hondo for $150, unlimited hogs is stands only, no spot and stalk. Clay said it did have some good size hogs on it but again no guarantees that anyone would shoot a really big porker. He can handle 10 hunters. But again for the ones who specified spot and stalk, there is no spot and stalk on this hunt.

OK ya'll it looks like we are going to spend about $150 per hunter per day regardless of where we go. So do we have a consensus of where?

How many are in regardless of where we hunt?

How many of them have a specific time requirement?

Let's get this thing kicked off so we can go do it....

I can only go in feb or very early march.
I will only go to a place that favors spot and stalk. i spend all fall in a tree hunting deer i dont want the same thing for hogs. I personally like the sound of bowhuntingmaniacs best, maybe we can have 2 groups on 2 hunts anyway. Sometimes there isnt enough lodging and huntable areas for more than 4 guys.
Not to sound like a loner but i really would rather go with a small group anyway, just my style.

Count me in, Dan! Lets make sure we have all of the details. Hunting license? Accomodations? It would be nice to get a good estimate of cost.

OK John.. Maybe you and I can travel back there together.. I think we can count on about $150 per hunter per day for the hunt plus transport and meat processing and whatever else we can think of..

Moosie is supposed to lose some money to me playing poker.....after he teaches me to play..

That's three.. Who else?? Oscar,, you in?

Feb is Pretty much out for me. My DHI BAnquet is Sat Feb 26th. And it's Scramble time for that from here on out. March I might entertain it. April is Tax time and I'm heading to the Caribean wit the wife. (Not to dodge tax's although I wish :D) It will be time to Kill something anyways :D Figure it out and I'll let you know when I can comit or not.

Ok, here is my friends email address..........sorry it took so long, but I have been working 14 hour days since I got back to work........
His name is Ross, give him the hunt you want, and he will work with you..... [email protected]

Thanks for your patience,
Garth

OK, we have an address. Who is going to contact Ross and give him Garth's real name and ask for a date? I started this and I have no problem doing it if everyone is OK with that....
Let me know..

Never mind.. I've already sent the email.. I'll post the response when I get it.

Thanks Dan! This is the first chance I've been on a computer since my last response! Thanks again for taking the Bull(hog) by the horns! hump ;)

Hello Dan........we have a ranch of 3500 acres here in Texas about an hour south
of San Antonio. The ranch
has 2 creeks that run through the place and we have deer, hogs and turkey. We
have just built a new stone
camp house and we are 100% archery only. It is all fair chase hunts and we do
have some feeders running
if someone wants to sit a feeder, the best is to spot and stalk! The cost is
$125 per day and that would include staying in the house. Summit Tree stands has
been down twice and shot some video using there
stands here in Texas and they have had a great time. Please let me know should
you have any more
questions and thanks for the Email.
Ross

OK ya'll, this is what I got back. If you're in, tell me when you want to go. If this doesn't work for you, please provide an alternate suggestion. I would like to do this about mid March.. at this price, I'm in for three or four days.

I'm game for anytime! Mid March should give me plenty of time to sight in my bow. If earlier, no prob! Sounds like a blast!!!

march should work for me any time we can get a date.i have to send my deposit in for my september trip this month so i cant send it until next month but im in.
