Smart Man

Nut,
I used to hire as many as 6 guys. I won't be an employer any more. Too much hassle and not worth the bother when I can make as much money doing less work, working by myself. It's hard to find good employees in this country anymore, and even harder keeping them. Most think they are entitled to a job, whether they earn their pay or not. Unless things change, I will go to a temp agency when ever I need an extra hand, and let them deal with all the payroll and insurance B. S.. If they guy they send is not a worker, I just send him home and ask for a new guy. When the job is done they place him on another job.
Good to see that Dubya's administration is eliminating the hassles for business owners, and stimulating the economy.

Kind of either looks like Dubya's polices discourage free enterprise and capitalism or the work ethic that built this country is extinct in the 'Root and in Anaconda, Montana.

FYI Gunner,

The last year I had employees was 97 and I'm not going to blame Clinton for it. I was just worn out from it all. I wouldn't blame it on anyone in particular. I would say it has been a continued cumulative effect from the time the first tax was invented until now.

Also in the years time I have been in the root, I would rate the work force here as above average. Wages are low and unemployment high on average. That is fairly common in an area that people move to because of the quality of life, not the quality or quantity of jobs. Housing and land prices are high here too relitive to the average wages paid. People tend to come and go here quite frequently because of this. It's a tough place to make a living but a great place to live.

I thought Dubya gave you wealthiest 2% some big tax breaks, in order to get you to hire people and create jobs/healthy economy. Are you now telling me you pocketed your tax break, stuck it in a bank, and now sit around on some over-stuffed sofa drinking expensive Cabernets?

It actually sounds like a great place to Start a business, if you can get labor cheap, as people just want to have the lifestyle of living there. I think there are lots of rural areas in Idaho that people like to live, and you could start a number of businesses that don't require local consumption.

For perporting to be so smart, you sure don't want to see how and how long the trickle down takes to work....
But then again, I suppose it's all for the sake of argument or pissing in the wind isn't it... ;)
If the tax breaks were a bad thing, give your share back. I would suppose there wouldn't be much complaints by the Feds for your generosity...
Of course then again, it is easy to sit behind your little self made shields and run the ol' mouth now isn't it? :D:D:D

Gunner,

If you see opportunity here, go for it. I'd rather spend my free time hunting and fishing. Not babysitting a bunch of employees and putting out all the fires they start. I've made some recent personal sacrifices so I can afford this new life style. On the last wine shipment, I passed on the high dollar Cabs, and went for a more reasonably price Syrah. A compromise that has turned out to be not too difficult to swallow. When the bank starts to raise my interest dividends a little more, I will splurge for the Cabernet a little more often.

I should have known you were some kind of closet Francophile with Syrah. Real Americans prefer Shiraz.

That kind of explains your disillusionment with Capitalism and your contentment with underachieving.

Bon Jour....

Hey ElkCheese,
Just how long does Dubya's trickle down theory take to work? When are you expecting to get trickled on??
