This guy screwed over a HT member. He is a scammer and I did a bunch of checks on him from our admin software. One of his many emails came up as reported to be a scammer on other shooting sites.

Do not do any business with him. @FEl0T you're multiple IPs and your multiple emails are now in the forum spammer/scammer tracking system we subscribe to. I hope somebody gets their hands on your sorry ass.

And, when you are doing any sales/purchases, on this forum or any other forum, don't do the communication just via PM unless you know the person. Make sure you get an email and phone number. Do a quick Google search of that email address and that user name. Odds are, if they're a scammer, they've done it before on other sites and it will come up.Check it out thoroughly.

Also, look at their number of posts and the date they joined. If they are a new arrival, they might be here to scam. I get notifications if they are in the spammer/scammer database we subscribe to, but they're professional crooks, so they get pretty creative in ways to avoid detection and hide.

Get a rope!

One of these guys got me a year or two ago. A forum member who was recently active, and had several hundred good and real posts listed a rangefinder for sale. I checked his profile out, messaged back and forth a bit, then venmo'd him for the rangefinder and it turns out his account was hacked and it was some asshat was scamming with a legit account.

I hope someone knocks their teeth out.

I remember someone posed here as Muddyboots, who is a great guy from LRH.

Yeah...He did me dirty real bad! Totally my fault for not checking him out more i guess, but I had blinders on as I thought I was getting my Alpine Mtn rifle! Afterwards I checked on his posts here and he mentioned his 7 year old kid liking a certain gun, after he told me he was old and not tech savy....Gulp! Not that an older guy couldn't have a 7 year old kid...Just sucks! Makes me more cynical which is bad...and good. Thanks Big Fin for tossing him.

I dabble back and forth with a few guys here buying and selling. I'm pretty cautious I think. It's kinda upsetting that someone could hack your account here and scam someone. Are there any tell takes to help root the bad guys out?

Make them send pics with their username and the current date handwritten on a piece of paper next to the item they're selling!

I just Got scammed on here this week trying to finally buy my upgraded rifle stock... @Grud is the user name. Lost $500. Thought i covered my butt with photos that included dates and usernames but apparently it wasn't enough.

I'd post up everything bit of information and whatever picture you have on every forum you have access to.

I think we as forum members also need to whitelist people who have bought/sold before. For example, I bought some brass from @Redmt so whenever he posts another ad, I should endorse the seller.

Maybe getting a recommendation from another forum member would also be helpful.
Yeah thats a great idea
