Combine with the Dolly Varden run on the Sag. This is my current scheme.

Upset with myself for missing an easy shot at a Sharptail Grouse, never had the opportunity before.
I did get this pretty hen Spruce Grouse. Now I need to find a pretty male.

They say that there are no fences in the sky and you never know what kind of birds will show up.

What type of habitat do the sharptail use in Alaska? I’ve hunted them in a number of different habitats in Montana and North Dakota, but it looks quite different in AK from what little I can see in your photos.

It was mostly spruce trees and aspens with a tiny patch of open grass about the size of a typical suburban driveway.

My niece’s daughter wanted to tag along and she brought me good luck.

After a very short morning shoot because Rikki had a dental appointment, and after breakfast we went out to a couple of different spots but didn’t see anything. So we went back to the morning spot and finished a limit of Sharptails and my first two Hungarian Partridge.
