Pray for CO

A sad state for many that have lost their homes and possessions. Thoughts to all the families.

My buddy teaches at the Academy. The photos of the fire in that area are DISTURBING!!! This is extremely bad and they are calling for volunteers. If I had enough leave I'd take some and go help them. This sucks!

Bad news for all. Lets hope for some rain and mild winds here soon across all the west.

I just got down here to Fort Collins to work on the High Park Fire but with the cooler/calm weather they have got a pretty good handle on it for the time being. It even rained this evening for about an hour. I was expecting our helicopter to be sent down to Colorado Springs but we just got word that we are headed to Jackson Wyoming tomorrow morning. Hope they get a handle on the Waldo fire soon, I have seen what a large fire can do to a community and it is pretty devastating.

I took this photo at 2:30 this afternoon at work, of a small smoke plume in the distance.

And by the time I drove home at 7:00 pm it had become the Pine Ridge Fire.

So tough to see and many prayers going out to CO. Montana just started to burn up recently, we are just fortunate enough where I'm at by the Custer National Forest there isn't near the amount of structures. There is also the Dahl fire near roundup. The Ash fire near Ashland started yesterday and last night blew up and has grown to 110,000 acres in 24 hours. Right now it's 0% contained and no anchors on the fire. It is going to be a very long summer. I work in Ashland and its a scary sight to see all that is burnt, and I couldn't even come close to figuring out where the fire is currently at. Like I said we are just fortunate there isn't near the population nor structures. Prayers to all.

The Fontenelle fire grew quick here. So much dead fall there from the beetle kill that its no surprise.

Hope structures are threatened by that one, but I do enjoy watching junipers die a hot, firey death...

Wish the best for you all! Nightly prayers and well wishes for all effected. Man some of the video / photo's are amazing! A couple firefighters / hot shots, or smoke jumpers have posted some intense youtube videos of the lines! Massives!

A burnt juniper is about the only good one! While I think fire is needed and good; too much of anything, especially something as dangerous as fire, is not too god. Hope you guys get some relief soon.

Some good stabilization and/or rehab along with some fall moisture could make many of these areas better for years to come. It seems like this would be a good year to be a grass seed dealer...

Wow!! I was wondering if anyone has heard where donations can be sent? I am not a huge fan of the Red Cross, but thats another story for another time. I am talking about clothing, food, everyday essentials. I know that our church is overflowing with all of the above and would be glad to help out.

Bambistew, yeah, I know...reality sucks.

Dont get me wrong, I feel horrible that people are losing their homes, nobody should have to go through things like that. The sad part is, they dont have to lose their homes if they would have been prepared, cooperated, and been proactive in management.

But, its tough for me to feel sorry for people that ignore the facts that they basically live in a desert, prone to high winds, in areas that have had fire suppression for 100+ years, with trees on the side of their house, surrounded by public lands that they wont allow thinning or fuel reduction to happen.

I also dont feel sorry for people that build in 100 year flood plains and then lose their houses to a flood...I do feel bad for them though.

I dont know, its like this...I dont feel sorry for someone that smokes 2 packs a day for 25 years and gets lung cancer. I feel sorry for some 12 year old kid who, through no fault of their own, gets cancer...

Make sense?

I wasn't dissagreeing with you, just thought it was funny. Someone was looking for some compassion and you offered a nice kick to the nuts instead. Tough love is the MT way, right? :D
