Found this one in an outdoor magazine, haven't heard it for a long time but,,
I'd like to handload 150 gr bullets for my .270 and 200 gr bullets for my .30-06 but have been told these heavy bullets will wear out the barrel faster. Is this true?

No, it's the hot gasses that erode the bore. The bullet wear is insignificant.
Let me add that if the bullet is a boattail it will wear the bore a tiny bit faster. Army tests conducted since 1914 or so prove that. The advanced wear is very slight ( and mostly shows in machine guns) and a rifle could be shot for generations before accuracy starts to fall off.
