Did you ever drive up to Alsea and work your way back to Eugene on the logging roads?

Not the to the extent I’d like to. My wife and I took a trip out there last September to hike the waterfalls trail, and then poked around a few closed logging roads on the way back, but didn’t find any grouse. Found a decent patch of lobster mushrooms though, so it wasn't totally unproductive.

I’m planning to make a good day trip or weekend camp out there in August once fall bear opens up, and see what I find.

Good luck, I spent 1000s of hours up there as a kid, you should be able to find everything from mushrooms to elk in time.
