Not letting people go fishing!

They’ve closed some of the docks and marinas in Louisiana. People out of work, looking for something to do, and hang out at the dock. That gathered too many people. Not sure if they are closing public launches in general though.

I've literally seen people talk about how crazy this "Corona thing" is, starting from a safe distance and slowly migrating closer and closer to each other as they keep talking about "how crazy it is".

This Covid 19 is getting out of hand, shutting down all the boat ramps that are public..... heard some even getting tickets on there vehicles... OR, WA, and ID are being over run with idiots!
Matt

Lotsa public places in many states are being over run with idiots.
Idiots who only think within the walls of their own skulls and see as far as the ends of their noses.
Cause and effect.

Really, don't bother with a reply to this perspective - it will only work to shorten the length of your thread.

NM State Parks are closed which includes most public boat ramps to the bigger lakes. Hope the insanity ends soon. Personally I practice "social distancing" when I go fishing, I have a yearly park permit so I don't interact with the park staff (in most cases there aren't any anyway!), just launch my boat and get on the lake.

On March 17th Dare County, North Carolina shut off access, only allowing residents, property owners and those with jobs to enter. The county includes around 60% of the geographical Outer Banks, the barrier islands which contain Kitty Hawk and Hatteras as well as several other communities and a great deal of National Seashore and also a sizeable chunk of the mainland. I'd estimate that 90% of the residents live on the islands which can only be accessed by bridges or ferries so we have in effect a gigantic HOA which represents a ton of out of state wealthy property owners and which has now cut off access to some of the most popular beaches and surf fishing areas on the East coast.

Not sure how long they can keep it in effect before people begin to raise hell and demand access.

Wa closed all fishing throughout the state, state parks and all state lands. Fs is closing all access areas in the state so that still leaves the land open just not parking areas. So now on my weekends from working as an essential worker I can’t take the kids out walleye fishing or access the best areas for shed hunting even though neither of those I would be remotely close to anyone but my family. Imo close the access areas where people are crowding, start with the problem then if it spreads or persists close the whole thing.

A guy I know who lives on a small lake has made a similar complaint. While it is a public lake, traffic in and around the lake has picked up a lot recently. With a lot of people starting a conversation from afar then grouping around the boat or bed of the truck.

I noticed today areas that used to only get one or two cars had 10. But thankfully just up the road all the pullouts were still empty.

On Friday there was 22 boats at the local landing by 7 am. There is usually the same 3-4 trucks on a weekday morning.

MO river in SD was packed with boats on the weekend and still very busy on Monday and Tuesday. Myself included of course. We took our own camper and food and paid at the pump for fuel so we didn't have to get close to anyone. Fishing was great and it was fun to get away from the news for a while each day. I can see how people are congregating in the parking lots makes it look bad but people are still staying away from each other more than they would be at Walmart.
