Well, Gianforte bypassed anybody with science or fish/wildlife biological background and instead has chosen Christi Clark, Choteau Rancher, who sold out her ranch to David Letterman some time ago. That's three FWP Directors and a Commission that Gianforte appointed, none representing science or the average sportsman.

"Director at Montana Department of Agriculture, is a 5th generation rancher, born and raised in Choteau.

She graduated from California State University Sacramento and eventually returned to Choteau with her husband to raise their three children on the ranch. Christy served three terms in the Montana House of Representatives before choosing to follow her passion for agriculture by working for the Montana Department of Agriculture.

She leads the department’s efforts to maintain and develop viable markets for farmers and ranchers, and to promote Montana’s high-quality Ag products throughout the world."

"Christy Clark is committed to strengthening Montana’s number one industry and expanding value-added opportunities for producers and businesses.

A fifth-generation rancher from Choteau, Christy understands the challenges and opportunities producers face as she advocates for robust markets and promotes Montana’s high-quality ag products domestically and abroad.

Since 2015, Clark has served Montana producers at the department in various roles, including deputy director, agricultural sciences administrator, and agricultural development and marketing bureau chief.

I've known and admired Christy since 2008 or 9. Worked with her during her terms in the legislature and when we were developing & passing the Rocky Mountain Front Heritage Act.

She will be a good director and deserves a chance and a little help to be successful. If the first reaction is to attack, then you are simply setting the stage for irrelevance.

Is it true she has a 100% rating from UPOM? If so, sportsmen have solid basis for concern.

I love your optimism Ben. You and I were also the ones that said Hank would do a good job. I have since refrained from these types of endorsements 😬. I’ll give her a chance, but I’m not holding my breath.
