MONTANA FISH, WILDLIFE & PARKS COMMISSION TO MEET JULY 7-8 IN HELENA
Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet July 7-8 at the FWP Helena Headquarters, 1420 East 6th Ave.
In a work session July 7 at 4 p.m. they will discuss a proposed right-of-way to the Tongue River Railroad Company over land occupied by FWP’s Miles City Fish Hatchery. FWP Commissioners will consider a final decision on the agreement the following day.
In the evening, the commissioners will meet informally at Spring Meadow State Park with the Upland Game Bird Council for a picnic.
July 8, beginning at 8:30 a.m., the commission will also make final decisions on the 2009 wolf quotas
The 2009 deer and elk quotas outside those set biennially; the 2009 deer hunting access regulations for Marias River State Park and Wildlife Management Area; the 2009 antelope quota ranges; the 2009 upland game bird bag limits; renewal of a hunting access agreement near Lewistown; and acquisition of a fishing access site near Glendive.
The commission will tentatively approve the 2009 early season migratory bird regulations; the nongame wildlife program's proposed projects; and the authority for emergency fishing closures should they become necessary this summer.
The commission will also consider moving ahead on fisheries-related acquisitions in Lake County; a public access right-of-way in Flathead County; and on acquiring about 30 acres of shrub grasslands in Anaconda's West Valley between the Blue-eyed Nellie and Garrity Mountain wildlife management areas.
Late in the morning there will be an opportunity for the public to address other FWP issues not on the agenda.
