I own two xbolts, one is standard and the other a long range mod with a 26 inch barrel. Both are in 300 wsm cal.
What brasses me off is the damn trigger, you can't seem to get the let off much below 3 lb, now for long range shooting that's a joke.
Here in OZ I have a mod 70 also in 300wsm, now Winchester have got their act together and I can adjust the letoff down to 1lb or so, an actual hair trigger which is a joy for prone or off sticks.
So my question why does Browning do this again in the xbolt 2 model?

It's not the "let off" that you're talking about. It's how the trigger "breaks or the pull weight".
Let off is how far a trigger travels on a double action firearm to reset the trigger for the next shot.
For example a striker fired, semi auto pistol.
You pull the trigger and the gun fires. How far you have to release the trigger to reset so that you can pull it and fire the next round.

If it were me, I'd check out Trigger Tech and see what they offer for it.

BTW, my BR rifle has a trigger set 2oz.
My hunting rifles are at 2lb.

Mine goes to 1.5 and that’s where I stopped but there was room to go less. Just saying.
The MCarbo springs work very well. I have 2 X Bolt's...a Maple Medallion in 6.5 CM, and a White Gold Medallion in .30-06, both with MCarbo springs and they are great! I have them both set around 2#, and could have went lower. An easy and inexpensive upgrade.

So Winchester doesn't worry about them?
I don't see why I should need to buy any accessories.
Winchester is a very old design. My gunsmith predicts that all factory triggers will eventually have something like the Ruger American Gen 2 trigger with an extra safety device built in (trigger blade safety), so that the trigger can't go off if bumped.

My friend experimented with the Winchester and no matter what the trigger held.
I might try a ballpointpen spring just to see if that works, importing a firearms part is a hard job here in NZ.

I have a mcarbo spring in an xbolt, it lightens the trigger to where I’m happy but it’s not a nice feeling trigger by current standards. Does not impede me from shooting the rifle well though. I do think it’s a weak point along with the thin receiver at scope mount locations on the xbolts which I’m generally a fan of.

It does seem that these aftermarket trigger springs can impact reliability/safety of a gun. Installation instructions typically call for some checks for “drop safe” after settings are finalized. Typically these are smaller/lighter springs than factory and can lose some of their strength over time so I think we’d all be smart to repeat those initial safety checks over time. I doubt “lawyers” being to blame if there wasn’t at least a some of validity to safety impacts.

I think any trigger adjustment requires a safety check even from factory.

But, I just feel more comfortable throwing in a complete aftermarket trigger like a Timney or Triggertech rather than a DIY spring change. Just personal preference. Safety check done afterwards.

I could be mistaken, but I believe swapping the trigger mechanism disables the ability to cycle the bolt with the safety on.

I love my XBolt, but I have toyed with the idea of a spring swap. I’m not a long range hunter by any means (350 is all I should probably be shooting, if even that), so I just deal. Otherwise awesome rifle.

I did the DIY spring swap on my A-Bolt back in 2008 or so. Seems to be working fine. The gun still doesn't shoot any better than about 1.5 MOA but the trigger is easy.
