Mountain Men...The Rest of the Story.

Interesting read, John.
I remember seeing a picture of him in a Backwoods Home Magazine article, in the mid to late nineties. It looked very similar to the one in this article. I've tried to find it in their archives, can't seem to locate it.

Cool story! I like watching the show but don't think I'll ever live like him. I'm leaning more toward Montana or Alaska. And I WILL have a TV and appliances.

Daniel 'F' Boone and Davey 'F' Crockett....effing hilarious.

Good read Draftstud, thanks. I like him a lot more now.

Conway may be interesting, but that show is a joke. A lion hunter that wants to rid the country of lions and bellyaches about the lack of game, but won't kill a lion-REALLY?!! I about choked when I watched if for a few minutes last night and saw that fool trying to set a 330 bodygrip trap out it frozen streams one handed. Pure stupidity.

I only watch Louisiana duck call makers and some tall Norwegian fella with fancy huntin clothes. How cool would a Randy Newberg/Phil Robertson elk hunt be?

I don't own a TV... but I thought it was Daniel F'n Boone, not Davey F'n Crocket, that was the man. A real man if I recall correctly.

Oh, it is very Davey F'n Crockett mister. Why do you think they are both mentioned in perpetuity for big game calculus?:)

That was a good read. It's nice to know there's still people like him left in the world.

I've tried off and on to watch this series, but the fact that there is a camera crew there makes the impending doom and gloom experienced superficial to say the least. If real Mountain Men were as incompetent at surviving the wild as some of these characters portray their roles, they wouldn't last a week. The program is way to bogus for the reality it's supposed to exhibit. Give me Duck Dynasty, at least it's funny and their escapades are a lot more believable, even if we know they are scripted!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hunted right above Tom Oar's brothers house in Idaho the other week. He probably is the most isolated of them all.

Interesting article. Not quite the impression I got of him from the few episodes of the show I've watched.
