So there were human remains near a popular hiking trail... and authorities are sure the lions didn’t kill them....

You would think if they had a definite cause of death they would have released it immediately and put the speculation on hold.
Not that it would help though as I am sure that there will plenty of hunters lamenting how there uncle jack knew about the man eating strain of lions all along. And while we at it let's should put bounties back on them till they are on the brink of extinction.

Can you imagine the outcry if it had been wolves instead of a few lousy lions?

This story, along with the tumbleweed story made the news in Wisconsin. I will get 10 calls now of people saying they saw a lion here in the Driftless and if it’s safe for their kids to go outside.

I'm guessing they have a suspicion as to cause of death and aren't releasing it pending an investigation? Idk, I'm not LE so I dont know anything just speculating. Seems strange they'd say the lions definitely didn't kill the victim.

Brent, The death toll in Canada from lion attacks is the same from wolf attacks and if you add them together it is still half of the number of fatal attacks by Black Bears. But I understand your point. Same with Grizzlies, the fatalities via Grizzlies are also less than Black Bears.
And if a Wolf kills a dog, they notify the National Guard or RMP
