Montana deer ?

So i'm am low on venison this particular year, for some reason between the wife and I we only managed 2 deer, with 2 hungry kids too feed that's not nearly enough, question is this hunt any good for whitetail Doe deer? from what I gather there must be lots of deer if they are wanting too give out 3 doe tags per hunter?

Deer B License. Purchase beginning August 3.
260-01: ArchEquip only. Up to three 260-01 Antlerless White-tailed Deer B
Licenses per hunter. Only valid in HDs 204, 240, 250, portion of 260
(not valid west of Highway 93 in Missoula County), 261, 270 and 283.

Yep I hunt HD260 all the time, mostly private and tough to get permission. There is a little public that gets hunted hard. Some of the other huntertalkers hunt the public they will know more then I do on the public..

I am lucky to have the place I hunt and over the years as places change hands so has the places I have hunted. Went quite a few years with no permission on private.

I usually buy a region 3 doe tag when I head back home to Helena, there are a lot of deer, but access can be difficult, as most of the whitetail are on private land.
Districts 312,309, and 311 are down by Bozeman if I remember right, and same issue, lack of access. It couldn't hurt to contact the biologist in the region and ask if they have any info, often times they will have names of landowners willing to let you on to take deer.

Is there no late muzzleloader hunt for the elk zone you hunted...or did not hunt elk this year? Check the units, some Idaho zones have their Muzzleloader hunts in December...on the Archery Tag.

no muzzy hunt on my tag and I drew a riggins extra that was a bust(family member died) and too much snow when I could go right before thanksgiving, so i'm not sure but I think I can only get 1 more tag at non resident price, I think it would still be cheaper too go get a whitey in MT?

Probably makes more sense for the whitetails at this point...didn't know what zone you were hunting, or if you had gone elk hunting this year. Sorry to hear about the family member, always tough when that happens.

Haven't you drawn that cow tag two years now? You had a stellar year last year, then now this year...that's hunting. No ice fishing yet either. You out goose hunting at all?

The hard part is going to be finding a place to hunt that isn't already spoken for. There's block management and landowners that allow people on, but they're all booked up already for the most part. You can hunt Lee Metcalf, but I don't anything about the deer hunting on it as the tag I use in that unit can't be used there.

Yea I got the tag 2 years in a row.... and well I have been lucky enough too not buy meat in something like 10 years.... And I have been on the ice, check the fishing section... Killed some ducks but no geese yet.... Waiting till Jan. for that,

If you're just looking for meat and live in Idaho, buying and filling those tags will possibly cost you more than buying beef.

Too late for this year Duck Slayer but if you are interested in next year I would be happy to help.
Lots of good,easy whitetail hunting on that region 3 tag close to Idaho. You could drive over, shoot a doe and be home in a single day no problem.
If you are interested just pm me. I'm more then willing to help out as I put in for Idaho and could really use some help from a local. That Buck you killed moves you to the top of the list .
