I am looking for a new meat grinder and vacuum sealer. Mainly going to be used to process my big game and fish etc. from year to year. I am currently looking at Weston products (meat eater supported). I would like to get some info from others and see what you all think. I am looking at trying to keep the price down on the products, I think it is possible to get a good set for under $300. Thank for all the help and info ahead of time.

As many times as I've posted this, I'm sure folks think I have stock in the company... But, if your wife has a KitchenAid stand mixer, one can get a meat grinder attachment for it that works super IME. It's probably not as fast as a commercial grinder, but it's not as expensive either. It has met my needs so far quite well. Just another option to consider...

We have used Cabelas grinders for years. I currently use a 3/4 horse. As far as vac sealers, the $75 Food Saver at WalMart has served us well. We usually get three years plus out of it before it dies.

Weston products look solid.
I bought my hunting partners the Cabelas 3/4 hp >
Xmas gift, and it has worked perfect! The pan/hopper could stand to be a bit bigger maybe, but for a diy unit and process, the thing works great.
Brats are ez too, but we had a great teacher. Unit is. Ez to clean and have had it a while. Use it forever, I suppose?., as long as there tags then there will be dead animals and quarters to grind!

^ I second this. I was in the market for a new grinder a few years ago and my buddy who has his own smoking/processing business turned me onto these.

My wife and I both have our own Kitchen Aid so there is no squabbling...

We started out with the kitchen aid. It works great if you do 1 deer or antelope a year. Last year we switched to this LEM http://www.lemproducts.com/product/lem-12-electric-grinder/butcher-meat-grinders

This grinder eats through everything. If you don't trim well with the kitchen aid it clogs up fairly quick. We ran 5 antelope and a moose through the LEM in short order. Great machine if you are going to grind multiple animals per year.

Sams Club should start carrying these again soon. We bought ours for $329 or somewhere around there.

Is that a back-handed comment on my hunting ability? ;)
