I have never complained about the fee increases in any State, as a resident or a non resident.

There's a large portion of the resident hunter base that doesn't hunt out of state and has no clue what a NR pays and they don't care. The fact that you can hunt in another state tells a lot of people "you must have some money" so we're easy pickins.

I haven't either, but I quit applying many places where I could no longer afford it. "Rich Man's Sport" is subjective, but when single permits are $2,000 to $5,000 it's an accurate description.

Wyoming's non resident fees are still cheaper than most surrounding state's NR fees.

And if they lowered Sheep tags to $500 so most could afford it, forums would light up with complaints about getting "my odds ruined" for "my sheep tag".
Like will happen when CO goes to online applications only next year, including for NR moose, sheep, and goat....
Oh come on now, they raised the resident elk tag 2 bucks! And bison tags a whole $12. That's some serious money there!
I didn't completely understand some of the NR tag fee prices. Like the elk tag proposal to go from 480 to 576 when it's currently 577. I'm sure I'm missing something.
Been saying this for a while, been chastised for saying it in the past... You can agree or disagree to his point, but fact is fact.

No, you're not, the Legislature is though...like I said, this is the first rough draft, very rough at that.
So the people in charge of making changes don't even know what the current fees are? And they can't look them up?

I like the annual price adjustment part. Curious does the metric ever decrease? If so would the tag fee decrease? I think the resident increase are severely lacking. Resident fishing needs to double. Last I looked sport fishing is about the biggest drain on the budget. People forget that license is good for a year.

I have no problem with fee increases as long as it goes to its intended purpose of funding state wildlife agencies so they can do there jobs effectively. On the surface residents seem like they are paying more but in reality they already pay in with state taxes. Not sure if Wyoming has a state income tax, sales tax, or both? And on top of that many guys, Buzz for example, donate a chit ton of time that I can't as a non resident. I feel that residents need an increase also but I guess I understand why non residents get to butt end. I certainly don't want to pay more but if I am getting bang for my buck it makes it easier.
But to echo NoWiser, there is a huge disconnect because ofhe stigma of cost with a western hunt. Perception becomes reality regardless of the facts. Some guys get it but others will never understand.

Wyoming is deeply conservative. The hallmark of deeply conservative politics is wanting it all but not wanting to pay for it. That is evident in this proposal. With that being said, the other hallmark of Wyoming is they cater to outfitters and large ranchers who make big money leasing/outfitting their land, or outfitting the roped off wilderness areas. So I would expect WYOGA to have a hand in getting this modified because they seem to be the most influential lobbying body in the Wyoming F+G world.

The resident fees in a lot of states are stuck in a time warp. Heaven forbid they raise the prices for residents and just give the animals a value higher than the cost of a happy meal?

I think you can use the intraweb to find those in Canada and Mexico. Check that - Mexico may be priced out with the tax to pay for the wall.

If I have 100 applicants pay $5 to apply for a $500 tag, the total possible revenue is $1000.
If I increase the tag value to $750, the total possible tag revenue is $1250.
If I stagnate the tag at $500 but increase the application fee to $10 (double) then possible revenue increases to $1500.
I think that individual sportsmen are not as threatened by the application fee increase of $5 (200%) as the tag increase of ($250). $5 does not price me out of the market.
I am sure my thoughts have more holes than a colander, what am I missing?
