Lever Monday...post em up

I shot it enough to sight it in before it goes back to its owner. It was MOA with 165gr Fusions.

They're not my favorite lever, but they all seem to shoot well.
Ive got 3 of them (1 blued ad 2 stainless), and by God those are the 3 rifles I'm taking to Montana for my elk & mule & whitetail deer hunt in Nov. They all shoot MOA, which given the wind out there will be good enough.

What does it say on the reciever and barrel?
I haven’t actually seen the rifle yet
He sent me these pictures and I added them to this thread.
I’ll get a chance to see it soon, and I’ll check on it, and let you know.

My Brother In-laws rifle.
He stumbled upon it and got it for a great deal.
He believes it is an early 1900s rifle.
Is this a 99?

Yes that's either an 1899 or a 99. On the left side of the receiver ring it will be stamped with the model number. Some of the early 99's were stamped with 1899, but you can run the serial and get a DOM.

Refinish the wood? Looks too good not to be.

I love the 99's but every one I see is beat to hell. Since I know a guy who can make them look like this, I might start shopping.
Might be an interested add to the 35 Caliber collection
Just cleaned the stocks up and gave them a coat of oil. Not a full refinish.

How long is that barrel?
24"

I don’t believe this is a 1899.
It looks like this is stamped 1909IMG_6757.jpegIMG_6756.jpegIMG_6755.jpegIMG_6754.jpegIMG_6753.jpeg

Inherited my grandfather’s 1934 win 94. Shot my first 3 bucks with it.

During Covid the Lyman’s 66 rear peep sight broke and was able to find another yet. I was forced to put true glow sight on instead. Hasn’t shot as good since. I’ll have to give finding a Lyman’s another crack.

It’s pretty much retired now, except on those super nice days I want to feel nostalgic.

Hurrah for Grandpa's gun. A depression era Winchester would be quite a prize in the family.

There are a bunch of Lyman 66s on ebay. That rear barrel sight looks a bit out of place ;)

It sure does. I’ve own the gun for a decade or so and the year the sight broke was the year he died and I really wanted to hunt with it as kind of a tribute. I could find them at the time and the one I did I wasn’t paying that for price.

Hunted with it all season till the last day then brought the work horse out in the snow. 20 minutes dead deer.

I think I was and still am the only one in my family who understood the significance of it being a depression gun and what it’s worth. But it’s worthless or priceless because I’ll never sell it.

Your grandpa would be proud. Congratulations to him and you.

Is it a .30-30? I don't own a .30-30 and I'm thinking, maybe I should. I'm more of a marlin guy however.

Good luck and suck it up and buy that rear sight... :) Vintage stuff costs a penny or two extra sometimes but it is worth it.

No sights here at the moment, but it is one of several good places to look for old parts

Nope it’s a 30WCF! 😉 same thing.

Last I had it out I was working on a spicy load using leverevolution and hornady 140 monoflexs. Velocities we’re looking good.
