Land management agency impact stories...

In NM NPS has canned over a thousand people. BBC, but a short blurb from faux was on the news. Bigger numbers from FS reported over the weekend.
But ads for LEO positions at NPS have turned up.
My neighbor is working as a FS volunteer again and choice of vehicles.

FS was low on LEO's around here before. They will need more than ever to repair gates soon.
Meanwhile NM has dropped back into severe drought in the SW.
March is here. Winds will be the forecast for a few months now.

Went down to Reserve to renew trucks and there were elk feeding midday along the roads and creeks.
No FS trucks in town, very odd.

Work on the creek crossing along the Apache is stopped mid job. Funded by recovery$.
Millions in equipment idle and culverts sitting. No workers. Stop light installed temporarily.
Catron County has it's 1st stop light.

My office. The type of employee the Federal gov't should be retaining.

A couple of local DOI offices on the lease cancellation list, among others.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -Grand Junction is on the list for cuts made by the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, the federal agency helmed by Elon Musk.

According to the DOGE website, there are four listed offices in Grand Junction whose leases have been terminated:

  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • Geological Survey
  • Office of U.S. Attorneys
  • Grand Junction’s Social Security Administration Office.
While these offices have been contacted by DOGE officials about the closures, the website says the closure strategy is still under development.
