So I think I'm done with Colorado. I've spent two seasons there, and would like to try Idaho as much for a change in scenery as anything else. I'd be looking for any legal elk and have some areas within these two units picked out. I'm wondering if there is anyone here with experience in these units that I could PM my current ideas to get a feel for the water situation and hunting pressure. One thing that stands out already on OnX maps is it seems there are WAY more trails in Idaho than Colorado. Makes me nervous about how accessible some of this is. Also have no experience with grizzlies, so that will be new. I'm not necessarily scared to try it, but don't want to end up in some grizzly hell hole where I'm dealing with them all the time. I know this is probably the most common annoying thing said in these forums, but I'm really not looking for anyone's spots. I've picked my own, and I'm just looking for some more specifics about these spots from someone who has been there before.

You're right on with the motorized trails. I've hunted the MT side and the Idaho boys will run their bikes right up to the divide. And I wouldn't lose sleep over the long toed bears in that country. Other side of the highway is a different story. Pretty country nonetheless.

May not be gobs of Grizzly, but be careful. The below picture is from just over on the MT side of ID 59. I never hunted 58, 59 or 59A but I could share a little knowledge of what goes on in a certain few places by the border during rifle season.

I will be close to you, this will also be my 1st time in the area so I've got the same questions. We are actually planning to hunt Unit 30 but the tag will be good for the entire Beaverhead Zone, so my research will definitely include the whole area. We are planning on a mid-September Archery hunt, not sure when you are planning on being out there. I'd be glad to share any insights I gather or see if I'm in the area before you are. My biggest issue right now is we would like to get away from any crowds and are willing to put in the miles but I'm not sure how many opportunities there are with all of the trail access you mentioned above...
