Leupold BX-4 Rangefinding Binoculars

I remember when:

I remember laying down in the back of the 1956 chevy station wagon and smoking a cigarette with my brother while my parents drove back east to visit relatives.

They had so much smoke in the car that they never noticed. We were probably about 10 and 12.

When I personally knew who every landowner was for at least 5 miles in any direction from home.
During my single days I had a male malamute that knew every land owner 5 miles in every direction.
One of them must have not been to happy. Dog was packing bird shot for quite a few years.

Remember when they showed us "Psycho" in the school auditorium for our 6th grade graduation, and no, it wasn't when it was first released:)

I was an Air Force brat, growing up. The Cuban missile crisis was a searing memory from my childhood. I was very accustomed to to the base being on alert. That did not come close to the tension felt for those few days. Everyone was quite certain that the end was eminent. The relief when the crisis passed, was equally palpable.

My dad was stationed at Chenault AFB in Lake Charles during the crisis, but I was too young to realize the severity of the situation. He would tell me later they scattered all their B-52's to civilian airfields with their crews to wait for further instructions. From there we moved to Glasgow AFB in Montana, another SAC base, where B-52's were serving the Iron Dome effort. A few years back one of the TV networks gave Glasgow the title "Middle of Nowhere" far being the farthest from any large city in the US. Made sense to put an AFB in such a remote place during the middle of the Cold War. To this day I could not tell you for sure if nuclear weapons were on those bases because needless to say, members of the military never mention it or ask such a question. At least, not in those days.

I too remember when it was easy to cross the border. Took a 16yo girlfriend to Niagara once about turn of the century. All we needed was her driving learner’s permit and a note from her parents that it was alright with them if I took their daughter out of country.
You mentioned the border NE states and they’re fine, though I don’t see it as a fair trade to visit. Just that province alone has Windsor, the better falls, Spanish R. provincial park, hot babes of Sudbury, Georgian Bay. You see? I’d much rather drop $ on that vacation than some shitty lobster roll in the snooty Downeast.

I guess Ontario used to be Okay a long long while ago, but it's been a shytehole for a long time too though! Ha
