I remember when:

  • Lincoln logs
  • Hair spray and a lighter allied with the back ants against the red commie bastards!
  • Plastic Green American army men vs Grey Germans
  • Uncle making lead .50 for his Hawkins. Leaned it on a limb for me and I bounced on my ass. They laughed, opened another Coors.
And...

I remember when a dime bag cost a dime.

Do you know how much condoms cost back in the day? I dunno I never used em! (Because I wasn’t cool enough for premarital sex)

No ride for us. My brothers and I would ride our bikes to the nearest public ground, about 4 miles from town, with a .22, a fishing pole, a can of Dinty Moore stew and a Coghlan’s mess kit. If we weren’t home for supper ma would drive to the entrance and honk for us to come out of the woods to check on us. Now my wife cringes when I eat this stuff!

i remember when i was a teenager in the 60's being raised by my older brothers and my friend johnny and i were jumped by a gang and my friend johnny stabbed a guy and killed him. we ran off and hid for a couple weeks in an old abondoned church. later, a fire started and there was kids there for some reason and johnny got hurt saving the kids and he eventually died of those injuries. But before that happened we got into a big fight with the the other gang. Then my other friend had a melt down and got shot by cops. Tom Cruise was there.

Seems crazy, but I remember being a teenager, in New York, and never having seen a wild turkey. I think I was 18 the first time I saw one.
Come to think of it, I remember when turkeys, eagles and ospreys were extremely rare sightings and I remember when loons were something you could only see/hear in the most remote canoe areas. All common now. Some things are getting better..
