We're in Oregon presently on a little family vacay to the coast. Holly and I were talking with a local about hunting and fishing and it occurred to us that back home in our deep freeze we have meat from 5 different animals that we killed and processed ourselves: whitetail, mule deer, elk, antelope, and black bear.

We really don't usually think much of it, but it is a pretty unique way to live. Kind of happy about that. I like being a hunter.

Whitetail deer, turkey, squirrel, catfish, and there use to be some breasted out mallards and Canadas, have to go after some geese the first week in Sept, then squirrel season, then hopefully my first ever archery deer. Got my first turkey after over a decade of trying with my Dad in the spring, hopefully the fall of 19 I will get my first archery whitetail and if blessed to go out west to Idaho with my bro at least see my first mule deer let alone him harvest one. Good luck restocking your freezers this fall everyone.

I have walleye and pike in my freezer a bit of deer my bear from Thai spring and still a bunch of elk from last fall. My elk had a moose sized body so he will take awhile to eat

I just have a little bit of sausage left, and some redfish and speckled sea trout...getting desperate around here, might have to set a hog trap soon.

I was fortunate to put about 450 lbs of meat in the freezer over the last 12 months. Whitetail, mule deer, elk, pronghorn, black bear, feral hog. I've probably eaten about half of it so far, but it's good that I'll be carrying some over this year since I didn't draw any elk tags.

I guess this would be normal for any avid outdoors man, but I really do not know what I would do without hunting, fishing and my other outdoor pursuits. Crap I would be lost in life I think.
One package of Mule deer, some Mallard and Canada goose, and a few packages of salmon and steelhead. More venison is needed for sure, really glad fall is approaching!

Whitetail deer from South Carolina, and Mule Deer and Antelope from Montana. I totally agree with you. It gives you a lot of satisfaction to know how blessed we are all with what God has provided. I love hunting as well. The wife and I just came back from a vacation (last week) where we drove through Wyoming. We saw a ton of game. She saw how much enjoyment that was to me to see all the vast species of animals. It was her first time out west.

I like being a hunter too and sharing my perspective with others. I find most are very welcoming and curious.

In my freezer: Elk, antelope, whitetail, pheasant, grouse, duck, geese, maybe a hun, walleye, pike, and smallie. Not too much left of anything other than beer sticks. I have a lot of beer sticks.

As hunters and anglers, we eat like kings!

Yes, absolutely love it. The life. The company. Passing on the knowledge to others. Seeking knowledge from others. The hunt preparation. All of it.

Best of luck to each of you this coming season.

The gratification of hearing a good friend rave about their first taste of game meat after you've gifted them a care package is pretty dam't special. Especially elk.

Deer and elk is gone, but still have lots of bison and mahi mahi. Been providing the meat for neighborhood BBQ’s and it is incredibly satisfying when others express their thanks and genuinely enjoy it.

white tail, rabbit, turtle, crappie is all the wild stuff i have. Also have pork and beef that was self processed... makes it a little less wrong lol

Just turkey and fish right now. Good thing Sept is right around the corner or I'm afraid I might catch a glimpse of the freezer bottom!

Dang, all I have is a tiny bit of doe left and some fish (pike, walleye, trout and perch)...oh and one elk sausage from a neighbor.

Nothing wrong with that. I still eat plenty chicken.
