PEAX Equipment

I like being a hunter.

Don't remember not having deer in the freezer...or elk the last decade & a half. Our son keeps us supplied with ample crappie, bass, & catfish which we wipe out pretty fast. Same with dove. We'll freight in a couple coolers of crawfish occasionally for a boil....a pig roast now and then.

Having 3 grown boys who are avid hunters and fisherman and doing so myself we always have a good choice of natural protein in the freezer. Elk, deer, antelope, goose, duck, and turkey with some pike, catfish, walleye and drum fill up the shelves.

Did you ever make that bacon?

It's a blessing and a curse. Juggling moving to a new house (45 min south of us), plus work, 2 kids and trying to plan out this year's hunts... Something's gonna give and I'm planning it to be the job ;)

Sometimes I think it would be nice to be clueless and just eat the flavorless stuff you can buy.

I still have moose, bison and a wee bit of elk (although I could raid my folks' freezer for elk if needed).

White tail, wild turkey, rabbit, grouse, salmon, pike, walleye, trout, perch, crappie, bluegill, bass, usually in my freezer at any given time. Maybe this year a bear will cross my path!

We still have elk, pronghorn, wild turkey, a little barbary sheep, and some northern pike. A lot will be eaten before I add more, but I don't think we'll reach full-on meat crisis before Sept.

I'm sure no one buys meat at the grocery store and looks in their freezer with as much pride as we do.

Current freezer inventory - elk, pronghorn, whitetail, pheasant, ruffed grouse, duck, smallmouth bass & walleye. Lot’s to eat.

edit note: original text said "wallet" - either autotype error or freudian slip on the cost of all this hunting :)

Hopefully this road trip works out for me

I had already planned on dining on wild game in Texas ( Harley ), New Mexico ( Bobbydean ) and Arizona with Dirtclod--if he is successful in knocking down a coues or two

But if I started this trip in Minn with Vikingsguy and Mtnelknut and if possible see LCH in Ind and then madtorn in wy on my way to Brian, and Jel in Montana. jryoung also has some good stuff in his freezer but I dont know if the velocity will blow him into my travel path.

Long drive from Mt to Tx and a stop in Co would work. Do you think maybe John cushion has anything good in his freezer ???

All joking aside ( excluding Dirtcod who is expected to have a Coues for me to dine on ) you guys have some great meals in your freezers. Congratulations and Enjoy

My life is so sad, the mini fridge has some crackers that the hotel charges 5 dollars for if I eat them )-:

April,

It is has been awhile that I have filled a tag. New Mexico can be as hard on residents as nonresidents to deliver that special tag. If I have any wild game left, it is in the bottom of a chest freezer that I am too lazy to clean. Cannot wait much longer.

If you travel thru New Mexico. my wife and I would love to treat you to prime rib, rib eye, lobster, or New Mexico beef enchiladas. Sad to admit on a hunting site, the I do not have wild game in the freezer.

If you travel anywhere in the state, leave my a message and I will be there. There are 3 or 4 members I would love to meet and you are at the top of the list.

I think you could probably visit any western state and not have to buy a meal.

Hope you make the trip!
