I had to ride a lot of ATV miles, and pass up a lot of younger bucks in order to show BUZZ that ATV riding hunters can kill mature bucks. :p

Like I said last year, I prefer to shoot younger deer.

That is funnier than hell that somebody would be bragging about killing a deer from an ATV. Kinda like the idiots who brag when they win some money on the lottery, and somehow mistake blind luck for some sort of skill.....

There is an old Chinese saying: "Even a blind pig finds a trufle".

Congrats on your roadhunt, should be one for the memories.....

Funny Gunner...I had about 50 turkey hunters last month ask me where i got my Bird....then they see that i`m handicapped... i just tell them that i am one of the Best road hunters around.

Wow! I can only dream of people calling me an idiot if I win the lottery! You can call me any name you want! LOL!

Gutter,

Here's a quote from you on another topic.

"I took the Jetboat out this afternoon, and ran up toward Bob's place. Hell's Canyon has been producing pretty good, so Dad wants to fish it for three days next weekend"

So whats the difference between fishing from a jet boat or hunting with an ATV, other than the jet boat burns through a hell of a lot more fuel?

I don't own either a jet boat or an ATV, but as long as either are used legally, I have no problem with them. Differnt strokes for differnt folks. Nice buck, Ten.

I guess the funniest part about all of this is that we've heard EG call my hunt "luck", and we haven't heard from BUZZ yet. "Remember When" we heard that all deer and elk run pellnell away from the sound of ATV's? "Remember When" we heard the statements that the only critters that ATV riders kill are the young/immature critters? Last year I had already filled my tag before those statements started. So this year, I was selective in my harvest (I prefer young deer, they eat a lot better then old ruttin' bucks), and selected (not lucked into) a mature buck. EG, thanks for making the ASSumption that the shot was made from my ATV, but you are incorrect AGAIN. I said the critter was shot about 80 yards or so away from the ATV (OH the pack ;) ).

Ten, You shot a nice old buck at the peak of the rut when some are so stupid they don't even know what they're doing. Don't try to make it sound like that happens all the time. Besides, look at your topic title. We saw a couple bucks much bigger than that one standing out in a field at noontime and standing in a well traveled county road at 2PM during the rut this year. Doesn't mean you can count on it other times.

I agree BHR. I see nothing wrong with your hunt Ten Bears. It sounds like you used a legal road/trail to get to your hunting area and then used the vehicle to legally get your animal out of the woods. Nice buck to boots. congrats...

IT, what does my TOPIC Title have to do with it? What if the TOPIC Title was "Had to DRIVE Thousands of Miles...."? How does my hunt during the peak of the rut, differ from that of another hunter that hikes 1 or more mile to hunt during the peak of the rut. We hunt deer during the rut here, that is when the season is set. I could hunt them at other times of the year, but I think I'd get in trouble for that.

I believe the issue was that there are those that don't believe that ATV riding hunters can kill mature animals, and that they only kill young/stupid animals. I too, saw bigger bucks that day. I saw one as I loaded this one on the ATV, and another chasing a doe along the highway. Do you now propose (IT) that you should now not only be allowed to tell others how and where they should hunt, but when as well?

I killed this buck this year, I have killed other large bucks in the past, I have NO need or desire to collect BONES for trophy, and I see no need to continue to prove you (IT, BUZZ, EG) wrong on this issue any further. You have made your comments in the past, now choke down your crow and move on. If I choose, I may or may not kill another mature buck next year. If you had chosen to offer this weekend to have purchased a second deer tag for me, I could have probably killed another the same way I got this one. I do not proclaim to be a "great" deer hunter, but I do know where, when, and how to do it.

Whether you shoot a Critter from a 4-wheeler or not, Kudos man !!!!! I've yet to go chase a White tail, On foot or 4-wheeler. Someday I will.

Nice Deer bud !!

IT, again I ask you how this is any different then any other method of deer hunting (other then the packing distance)? I went to my hunting location, I set up, I called and rattled, and I bagged a nice mature buck, and then I packed it back to my ATV. Tell us how that is different or wrong.

BTW, the trail I used to get there was open for ATV travel, but closed to travel by passenger vehicles (as it should be). It is also open for foot travel by those self righteous enough to walk when they can ride. :D

Ten beers,

Next year, kill a mature mule deer buck or bull elk from an atv trail...good luck.

BUZZ, you really do need to get over the compensatory thing. I will kill what I choose to kill not what you tell me to. I only hunted this one because you blowhards claimed it couldn't be done. I have nothing else to prove. You were wrong, eat your helping of crow, and move on (unless of course you want to answer to questions that IT is dodging). :) :) :)

If i can ever get another tag in AZ.. i will be glad to kill another nice muley buck using my drive/park/glass "road hunt" methods. it has never failed me.
